What a waste of money - we walk by this place all the time and thought we would give it a try. The salad was pretty good, The whitebait was OK but very salty and greasy. The bone marrow on the other hand was just revolting. Not fresh and not properly cooked. For a main course we made the mistake of going with the swifty's twin burgers at $24 we naively assumed that it would be a high end take on your average burger and we would be getting some really yummy burgers. What we did get was two blobs of ground meat and some greasy fries. When we voiced our disappointment to the staff, that there was no bun no sauce no real flavor or creativity. They argued with us that a burger means two blobs of overcooked ground meat - and offered us some baguettes to go with it. I have no idea if the other items on the menu are any good - but the attitude of staff and unwillingness to make us the customers happy guarantees that I am A: never going back B: making sure to tell all my friends not to go there.

This is the type of place where you see ladies lunching in Chanel and gentlemen in navy blazers with gold buttons--lots of society doyennes and very WASPy, but the crowd is very interesting to watch. I sat at the table across from designer Betsey Johnson once and I recognize a lot of faces from Town & Country magazine. For lunch, I like to order a Bloody Bull with the roasted marrow bones appetizer, which is served with a small frisee salad with pickled onions and a few toast points on the side. For dinner, I am happy with a dirty vodka martini and the sauteed calf's liver with crispy bacon and creamed spinach. The hubby likes the meatloaf, which is very good. Would like to try the tuna carpaccio and the cheese souffle next time!

We recently moved from Chelsea to the Upper East Side and have been looking for a new place to replace Le Singe Vert. To me, Swifty's is to the Upper East Side as Le Singe Vert is to Chelsea. It has the unique feel of the neighborhood. The food is nicely prepared and served, and the bartender can make a fantastic Bombay Sapphire Martini. The mini burgers are served without buns, similar to the ones at The Algonquin Hotel and come with excellent fries, and the steak was perfectly medium rare and comes with a suitable bearnaise sauce.

I visited this restaurant a few days ago. I ordered a salad (which was good), a mimosa drink, jumbo crab cakes and an ice cream dessert. The only item that i enjoyed was the salad. The mimosa tasted bad, the "jumbo" crab cakes were three tiny pieces of crab that was tasteless, the dessert was also bland even though it was ice cream. I spent so much money eating lunch at this restaurant, but i still left hungry. Although the service is pretty good, it cannot make up for the bland food, cramped eating area and over priced menu for such small portions. I sure will not recommend or go back to this place. What's the point if the food is not filling and tastes bad.
