Excellent! Best In The City!
By evand on 12/20/2010
I went to Tabla for the first time for a late lunch in June, right after my high school graduation. We sat upstairs and it is one of the most beautiful ineriors at a restaurant I have seen (and I've traveled all over the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as to Japan and Great Britain). The food was sublime! The crab cake was the best I have ever eaten! I will certainly try to go again before it closes!
Service (almost) outshone the food

As somebody who is easy to please but difficult to blow away, I can say I was definitely blown away. Were it only for the food (I had a delicious soup of morels, fava beans and ramps, spiced with too many indian spices for me to name that paired perfectly the with Montlouis Sur Loire that I was drinking, spring lamb two ways that was perfectly cooked, and a suprising yogurt and cardamom cheesecake), I would have given this restaurant 8s and 9s. But the service really elevated things to another level. Not only was our server incredibly knowledgeable and flawless, so was our bus boy, food runner and hostess. The food runner could cite multiple names for the exotic ingredients, helping us understand what they were. The bus boy, while folding a bathroom bound diner's napkin, engaged us in conversation. They were clearly a cohesive team and the service was delightful while not overbearing. I would definitely return to Tabla again, and again, and again.

It Rocked! Take great food, awesome service, amazing hospitality and throw it all into a blender and that's what we got at Tabla on our last visit. We'll definitely be back soon!

Had a most enjoyable time whether being their for a business or social diner the quality and quanity of every meal was great. Having had diners at other Indian resturants the surrounds, staff and most of all the food is far better at Tabla's.

There are few restaurants that are as sensual and creative as Tabla while still providing a high level of excellence. THe food is always right on, service is sincere and well informed and the place is beautiful. What more could you want from a new York culinary experience! Don't miss this one.
Thank God For Restaurant Week
By Victoire on 1/31/2003
All I can say is thank God for restaurant week. That is the reason I got to go to Tabla restaurant where I experienced the best in terms of everything - food, service and decor. Not only was my mouth squealing with delight with the myriad of tastes, but the staff was absolutely accommodating and pleasant. Could I afford it at another time? Perhaps not, but would definitely go back for a special occasion.
Always a pleasure!

Whether I do drinks outside in the summer, the Bread Bar at lunch or dinner upstairs, Tabla never disappoints. The staff is friendly and helpful, the drinks are delicious and the menu is always a treat. And I think their naan is some of the best in the city. The last time I went was for a late Valentine's Day dinner: they gave me a box of really yummy chocolates at the end of the meal!

Tabla provides an elegant and serene envirnonment to enjoy an international meal with Indian spices used to perfection. While not a true Indian restaurant, Tabla presents a meal flavored with the best of Indian preparation and spices. The room is elegant and serene. The service is outstanding. The lunch prix fixed menus are a great value.

The food in Tabla is very interesting it is sort of a mix of American and Indian. Worth the price.
