Table 8 not quite up to snuff

For all it's seeming pretense, the food was mediocre and, of course, woefully small even for a small plate. The waiters seemed to be somewhat confused as where they were, unable to accomplish seemingly simple tasks like bringing water. A disappointment.

Stopped by a few evenings ago, enticed by the idea of the salt bar, but ended up loving every single dish. Our sweet waitress recommended dishes that perfectly suited our desires and we left feeling very happy and very full (a free dessert specialty came from the kitchen to every table! And house made, melt in your mouth macarons!) Despite the "scenester" reputation of the restaurant, the welcome unpretentious approach was really refeshing, as were the cocktails!
Outstanding service, great menu, great experience

Went with a friend for dinner a month back. Stefan our server gave us a fabulous walk-through of the menu, highlighting points of interest (not the most expensive items, rather, some favorites). We took most of his recommendations from salt bar to apps to entrees. Food was delectable, service was attentive without being overbearing, and flexible (I think we were there 2.5 hours). I went back a month later and look forward to trying it again soon.

Having dined at the original Table 8 in California as well as the one in Miami, I was excited to to learn that Chef Armstrong opened one in NY and I had dinner there in late June for my birthday. I have to say I disagree with the reviewer on most points with the exception of the bathrooms. They were a bit hard to locate but to their credit there was someone handing out complimentary sparkling wine as I made my way back to my table. Our server Stefan was not over-bearing in the least and he had a familiarity with the menu that I really appreciated. Everything he suggested from the fois gras and scallop to the baby chicken with the short-rib hash was excellent. I even had the pleasure of meeting Chef Armstrong. The restaurant was crowded and he was no doubt busy. However, he took the time to visit my table and was extremely gracious and not at all hard on the eyes. I look forward to going again soon.
