Outstanding, one of my very favorite places

Last night we went for dinner with a cousin of my partner's who is from out of town. We wanted to take her someplace special, and the meal we had scored top marks, from start to finish. And it always does. We come here perhaps five times a year, and each time we do, we leave fanatics. The bread at the table is extraordinary, first of all, it cannot be said enough--I'm getting hungry writing this. I recommend ordering the selection of spreads on the appetizer menu, the tzaziki, hummus and baba ganoush, though if you like spicy, get the skoog instead of one of the others. The salad with haloumi is wonderful also, as is the baby octopus. And the fish, either the branzino or the snapper, are miracles. Our guest had the lamb, which was wonderful also. And our service was impeccable and friendly, and so accomodating--the waiters were intensely knowledgeable, funny, and sweet, and we were even seated at our table despite waiting for one in our party, though it was a weeknight. Also, the cocktail menu is ingenious. I had a Louisa, lemon verbena infused gin with lemon and champagne, it was terrific. We followed it up with an excellent Sicilian white wine. Go, go, go. And also visit their new downtown place, Taboonette. I'm obsessed with their food, can you tell?

Perfect!

We were looking for a quick bite close to The Gershwin Theatre but wanted something a little special. The concierge at the W on Lexington suggested Taboon. What a delight! One member of our party was on a very tight schedule and arrived late. We appreciate that you accomodated all of our wishes so beautifully. The bread was outstanding. Did we really order three loaves? Everyone enjoyed a lovely meal, desert included, and we were on time for our show. There was a wonderful wine served with dinner, a merlot that tasted a bit like chocolate. I wish I remembered the name!

Very very very disappointing!

After hearing about Taboon from a few people we decided to give it a try. Needless to say, we won't be returning. The menu lacks imagination and the flavors are blah at best. The portion sizes are an embarrassment and honestly, Cosi has better bread. Our waiter was the only bright spot. Take my advice, spend a few extra bucks and go to Mylos instead!

Best bread in town. You must try the scallops. Great atmosphere and wonderful service. A little pricy but worth it.

Taboon is a great brunch spot with an airy atmosphere and pleasant service. The menu is not overly inspiring, but intriguing none the less and their food offers an interesting mix of flavors and textures. Their drinks are definitely a solid way to enjoy a Sunday morning.

AMAZING!

I had never heard of Taboon before and certainly had no idea that places like this even existed all the way out there on 10th Avenue! BUT.. It's really woth the trip. First thing you see when you walk in is the big fabulous Taboon oven followed by a smiling hostess with a cute accent. Then you're seated at a perfect table and greeted by a charming and handsome waiter who obviously (throughout the entire evening) cares about your well-being and makes sure you're happy and you have what you need. The food is amazing! Hard to describe - you have to try it. Also here, the waiter was extremely helpful for us "first timers". Maybe not the cheapest restaurant in town, but it's worth every penny and we're still talking about our evening. Thank you... :)

This may have been a great resturant

When my friends arrived, we were asked if we had reservations, which we did not, and the maître d looked shocked. I looked around and there were a number of empty tables. I was told that we were lucky that they had a table available. Let me get to the point. The service was wonderful from beginning to end. The main courses were a bit pricey but I was expecting a great meal. The food though was terrible. It didn’t take a connoisseur to recognize that the ingredients were poor and scarce. Meat entrées included mostly skin and or fat. Vegetables or grains were drenched in cheap sauces to cover inferior ingredients and were inedible. Some of us wound up at a deli afterward because we were still hungry. We went because we read some of the good reviews, but we've all seen good restaurants change for the worse for one reason or the other. Save your money.

fabulous Monday night dinner with music

Just spent a great night at Taboon, schmoozing with the staff and the wonderful musicians who played beautiful music. A delicious experience, for all the senses! I'll definitely be back to try dessert (it looked great, but I had left no room for it!)

The staff at Taboon was very accomodating, never left our water glasses fall too low, cleared used plate and brought us new silverware between each course--- they did not hurry us out and paced the meal just as we liked. Very friendly and knowledgeable waiter. The bread was amazing and so were the sea scallops appetizer... a great experience! There's a dessert on the menu, too, begins with a "S...." (can't remember what it was called) but it was delicious and I would go back just for that!

Went on Saturday (6/28) and got a table at 6 pm. Great atmosphere and decor, with ample outdoor seating. Great value. The bread is fabulous, especially wtih the hummus. Highly recommended the shrimp meze, crab salad and the salad with the goat cheese (its a large portion too!). Desserts are good, especially the Silan. I eat out alot....and I'm putting this high on my list of restaurants to go back to.
