By far, the best Middle Eastern restaurant in NYC, and one of the best restaurants in the world! Absolute sublime eating experience. The chef brilliantly brings out the the subtle flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine. Every dish I have had has been superb (hummus, pepper/pomegranate dip, lamb shanks, fatoush salad, cauliflower salad, kibbie, etc.). I live in Manhattan, and it is worth taking the R train to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

The food is divine. Don't miss the hummus, smooth and full flavored,
arguably the best in the city, or the eggplant napoleon, two slices of
expertly fried eggplant layered between dollops of savory babaganoush
on a plate of fresh tomatoes, olive oil and basil - a subtle
combination that astounds your tastebuds, or the ethereal baklava, but
do yourself a favor and order in, because however good the food may
be, a waiter who snarls, snaps and rolls his eyes at you can only
leave a bad taste in your mouth at the end of the meal.

You won't find better tasting food anywhere. Rawia and her staff are very helpful. Make sure you ask your waiter for the list of things that aren't on the menu or the specials menu...there's always something.
We've been here on many occasions with many types of people and we've never had one person order any item that they weren't thrilled with.
For appetizers, the hummus is and babaganoush are must haves as are both the vegetable and lamb grape leaves. For an entree, again you can't go wrong. The kabob (ground lamb) and shish kabob (cubed lamb) are excellent. What ever you do, if you order any grilled meat be sure to get the Turkish salad (a rep pepper spread) with it. The lamb shank is "sinful" as is the cornish hen. Always ask for the rice special on the day your there. They always have a "special rice" that you can substitute for the normal rice.
Bring your own wine as there is no alcohol service here. There is a very modest corking fee of $5. They provide both wine and beer glasses for whatever adult beverage you choose to bring.

This was a middle eastern treat. The appetizers we chose were the fatoush salad and it was great. Simple and plentiful. We also had the eggplant napolean which was so good that it was like surprise in my mouth. Also tried the sambosek which was similar to an empanada just different seasonings and sauce.
The falafel was a little too crispy for my taste.
We tried 2 main dishes that were so good.Kibbie which is finely ground lamb and spices and a shepherds pie which was just so good.
The waiter was young and so helpful about expaining things to us and as a little treat brought us some small pieces of baklava for dessert, which was the perfect way to end this wonderful meal.

The last time I spent a week in New York, I ate at Mrs. Bishara's restaurant 6 times and was NEVER disappointed. Oh, you think you know Middle Eastern food, but you have no idea until you try Tanoreen. This is no regular hummos or kebab place; no, this is the eclectic mothership of Arab food. So, strap yourself in 'cause you are going to be taken on a culinary ride that you'll never forget.

If the Gods decided to come back to visit us, this is definatly the place they'll eat. They have the best hommus I've ever eaten (the rest of the food is excelent too) The service is also amazing. Rawia has a way to make you feel at home. I'd call it:"Like water for chocolate" The dedication she brings to her food is transfered to her costumers, making it the best feast you'll ever experiance in your lifetime.......Vosgita

I have dined at Tanoreen since the first day Rawia opened her doors. Your taste buds will not be disappointed. Everything on her menu is scrumptious and authentic. Tanoreen is one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in all of New York. It will be worth your effort to make it out to Brooklyn.

Tanoreen really has some of the most tasteful and best Middle Eastern dishes I know. The hospitality of the chef/owner makes for a dining experience that is truly cozy and homestyle.
