We had a lovely meal and the service was fabulous!!! We enjoyed 3 hours of chat and food. Yummy!!!

After eating at Tartine this weekend, I was a little annoyed by the way we were treated and thought I would check further and see if any others have had a similar experienceâ€¦turns out we are not the only ones. The real issue began when I went to leave and the server said that I did not tip enough and that a gratuity of $10 or more would be more appropriate (I had left $8). I felt the two dollars would not have a big impact on my life, maybe I made a mistake and just gave her another $2. Later in the evening I thought further about it and uncovered a host of issues. 1. The total on the bill was miscalculated, it should have been $50.25 not $51.25 (their checks are calculated by hand, and I donâ€™t believe this was an accident). 2. The tax on the bill should have been $4.46 not $5.00 (obviously not an accident). 3. The service was OK, not horrible, not fantastic, a 15% tip should be appropriate which would equate to $7.54. In the end the $10 tip plus the errors on the check equates to 23%!!....entirely inappropriate!

I came here with some friends from out of town and while the food was adequate and pretty good value it lacked something. The steak au poivre was encrusted with pepper, good, but the sauce was not made with the juices of the meat, not so good. My dessert of macaroon with ganache was great with lovely frosty ice cream but the "tarte tatin" was limp and pathetic. When the waiter spilled red wine all over the table there was no apology, let alone a comp, which I would have thought was the least they could do. Overall-a mixed meal.

Tartine definitely lives up to its expectations in terms of waiting on the street for a table and you will be crowded. Once you get over the fact they don't take reservations and the waitresses are a little overwhelmed with how busy it is, you'll understand why the wait is worth it. The atmosphere is very nice and you definitely can enjoy the french vibe. The food is reasonably priced and quite enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend eating outside as you will have people staring at you eating and praying you get up soon. I did enjoy the Beef Mignonette but expect the food to be simple yet yummy. Their desserts looked AMAZING... unfortunately I was too full to have one.

I've been looking forward to visting Tartine for quite some time. I was very dissapointed in the food. My fiance and I had the Spicy Chicken and the Chicken Pot Pie which are supposed to be two of the best menu items. They were not good at all. The goat cheese crouton appetizer was good but that's about it. The service was very poor and they mixed up our checks. The atmosphere and the fact that it's BYOB is nice, but i would never go back. It is definitely not worth waiting in line. Overrated!

I was excited to take my wife to this restaurant. There are a few positive things to say about it - the waitresses hustled and were friendly, the appetizers and the dessert were good, however I ordered the steak au poivre as my entree and I could not eat it because it was bland and tasted like it was a poor cut of meat. I got the impression they were trying to cut corners where they could. I was very disappointed and would not go back there.

Shame about the surly staff, we have almost stopped going because of the rude staff and ridiculous rules, ie. no coffees and coissants after 11am, no breakfast before...bla bla, no you can't just have a coffee at 2pm on a wednesday afternoon. Fries are great...although I feel the place is losing its charm.

Steak au was really peppery and a poor cut, sticky chicken was dry and mixed with guacamole and fries honesty it was an expensive burrito, tuna tartar had too much of a filler, butternut squash soup was great

I was really looking forward to this restaurant. The view is great on an outside street and my friend and I brought a bottle of Bordoeaux '03. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. I ordered the steak au poivre which came out overcooked and tasteless even though I ordered medium rare. On top of that the "au poivre" was a dried out pepper concoction. Yuck! The dessert was a stale macaron chocolate mixture. And, while the view is great, you wind up with hovering, hungry guests wanting your seat. Not exactly relaxing. With all the other choices of restaurants nearby, I'd definitely choose elsewhere.
