Awesome!

I took some colleagues here from NYU Medical Center for a business dinner. I was impressed with the ambiance of the place, sexy and romantic, with dim lights. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and the food was really delicious. My Carne Asada was perfectly cooked, full of flavor and great texture. The drinks were 1/2 off and delicious. All in all a great experience. I would definitely go back.

Loved Teqa!!! Had so much fun here! Have already been twice, once with a small group, another time with a big group, each time excellent quick service and had a blast!! Definitely a new place to try! Cool and chic decor! Love the mirror/walls!

depressing

Ugh. We stood at the front desk for 5 minutes before the 2 girls (who admittedly had great legs) would even acknowledge our presence. Being treated with indifference bordering on contempt is such a depressing start to any evening. If individuals put so much time and effort into setting up these restaurants why do they spoil it by hiring staff who seem to despise people and have such appalling service skills? Food was ok - cocktail menu is innovative. Once you're seated the service is ridiculously speedy....the sole aim seems to be to get you in and out as quickly as possible. We were a party of 6 and we had dessert menus thrust at us while one person was still finishing entree. If you are under 25 and impressed by the very shallow this is the place for you.

Paying more for the atmosphere..

I went there with my wife this weekend. It's a very nice setup, good feel to both the dining area and bar. Music is good, but not too loud that it prevents hearing each other. For me, that's where it kind of ended. I won't tell a story, so I'll sum up. The staff was courteous and helpful, though they lacked the finishing touches of a better restaurant. I didn't find the bar staff particularly knowledgable of the the tequila selection, and the cocktails were (I don't know if "unbalanced" is the word) not as good as you would expect for a $12-14 drink. As if there were too much of every ingredient, alcohol aside. The tequila "flight" options were limited. With a wall of different tequilas, I'd like to pick a choose my own. The bar overall was disappointing, but something they could definitely fix. The food? We had the tacos. They were good, soft tacos; but pricy. $14 gets you three small soft tacos. Just not worth it, I thought. Overall, I'd say it's overpriced for its current state; the decor was good, service was good but will take a hit for tequila knowledge, and the food (including cocktails) will get a lower rating because of value and the lack of effort put into their drinks.

A truly awful restaurant

Stay away! The food is bland and bad. The service is hilariously terrible. They are rude, conceited, and pretentious. There are so many great restaurants in New York City. Do yourself a favor, eat in one of those. Do not eat at Teqa. Hopefully the word will get out and this place will be closed within the year. Places like this (where the staff sees customers not as people but as profit centers) give New York restaurants a bad name they most certainly do not deserve.
