Nice looking bar, but nothing else

The bar (which was crowded) was pretty, but I hated the food. Everything was salty. Spanish food is one of my passions, and the food at Tertullia is as far as you can get from Spanish cooking. It's expensive for what you get, it's not very tasty, and the staff could be friendlier. Head to one of the Village's other good Spanish spots.

Salty food, bad service, pretentious vibe from staff. Interior was nice but honestly, that only goes so far. There are a ton of restaurants in the city that are designed nicely but, if the food is sub par, it doesn't matter. I can't say I was disappointed, because I went in with no expectations. But yes, I was disappointed. Some dishes came out cold that were supposed to hot, other dishes came out warm that were supposed to be cold and refreshing. In addition to that, the timing was all off. Sorry, won't be going back.

After reading the review of this restaurant on this site, we decided to try it and were expecting a great meal. There were 3 of us and we ordered a large selection of the menu to sample. Almost everything was a massive fail. The deviled eggs were so bad that we all 3 nearly spit our bites out. The short ribs were painfully salty, dry and chewy. The paella was overcooked. The only decent things we ate were the salads. The meal came out to almost $300. Total rip off for a very ill conceived (and executed) menu. Will not be going back.
AWFUL SERVICE, Does the chef know how dysfunctional the service is?

I have been to Tertulia once before for lunch and had a great experience. That is why I decided to bring 3 friends there for dinner. We arrived at 7.30 and asked for a table. The hostess told us it would be 1 and 1/2 hour. We decided to wait and remained at the bar ordering drinks and quite a few bites. The hostess comes to check in with us two more times and tells us that the table is ordering dessert and then that the are waiting for the guests to get up. So we abandon our spot at the bar and stand up to wait for the table. She pretends not to see us and gives the table to 2 people who just got in the door. We complained with the manager who didn't apologize and just told us to wait five more minutes. Then we sat down and ordered food. WHAT A RIP OFF! $18 for a 3-inch piece of octopus? Where are the abundant and delicious plates of the lunch service? We complained and they said that those are the portions they serve. We are Italians and used to small portions but that is plain ridiculous. Finally we ordered dessert: the crema catalana was as cold as if it was out of the fridge. They offered no apology or explanation for the poor service and sub par food. I wonder whether Chef Mullen knows how dysfunctional this is. NEVER AGAIN!

NY Mag lists this as the 28th BEST restaurant in NYC. Really?? I don't think so. While it's perfectly fine and enjoyable it certainly is nothing special. I can think of at least 6 other equally good or better tapas joints around town. Nothing wrong in going here but I certainly wouldn't run because it might be extra special. And I probably will not go back with the wealth of choices around town. While the food was enjoyable it is limited in choices.
REALLY BAD SERVICE

I thought the food was good...although the service was really really poor....which is why I would never recommend this place to anyone. My friend had 4 bottles of wine she bought and would like to try with the dinner. She called ahead and got the go ahead to pay a corkage fee with the wines (and that none of the wines she got could be on the restaurant's wine list). When we got there, the manager said we can only bring 2 bottles per table. When my friend explained that none of this was explained to her when she called (she called ahead specificially so none of these issues would come up), the manager was not apologetic and gave her really bad attitude. The manager needs to understand that customer service is just as important as the other aspects of running a restaurant.

great food, did a party here... staff seemed a bit off though, everyone seemed very scared, except one of the busgirls, she was very nice and made everything alright for us.
