Group from work went to Libertine for restaurant week luncheon. I was very surprised at how awful the service was. All though we were seated immediately it took almost 15 minutes before we were given flatware, water, and a menu. Service went downhill from there. Our lunch started at one and we walked out of the restaurant at 2:50 totally disgusted with service. Food was cold, fish was greasy and a burger that was ordered well-done an hour later came rare and cold, chips were cold. Cheescake was tasteless. Waitress had a nonchalance attitude about the service she provided so much so that even getting your water glass refilled took a tremendous amount of effort from her. No ones meal was hot. Will not be visiting Libertine again.

I can't say what kind of place this is, but it can be what you make of it. My husband and I were looking for an afterwork bar or restaurant that was both relaxed and had good food. We found great food, great service, and a fancier than usual setting. It was exactly what we wanted but we ordered too much food. It was just a bit hard to resist some of the tantalizing and interesting items. Even the sides were amazing, especially the brussel sprouts with wild mushrooms. I'm planning to go back for lunch!

We went there a few days ago. While the restaurant was still in "pre-opening" mode ( a few glitches in the service), I have to say I was very nicely surprise by the food. The interior could definitely be featured in a Wallpaper Issue, Modern yet cozy (and the actual lobby of the Thompson hotel is a nice complement to the restaurant itself) I would have imagined this place to be more in MePa / Union Square...well it seems like the Financial District is really happening these days. Highly recommended!
