For a year I was not able to get a table at this place (I did not try so hard admittedly)... Now the hype is over, but it should not be. The food is absolutely delicious from appetizer to desert. A place I would like to go back and back and back to try the entire menu!

For a recessional Wednesday, we were somewhat surprised to see that this pint-sized West Village neighborhood darling was totally packed. But then again, it's got all the makings for a perfect lunch: a light-filled corner space, cozy and casual, with the same, raved-about, seasonal fare for half of the dinnertime price. A tasty selection of wines by the glass came with (mostly) delicious food: crispy cornmeal-battered fried clam strips with tangy coriander aioli, cauliflower and sugar snaps topped with savoury, crunchy bread crumbs, and a well-dressed healthy sunflower salad with bibb and beets. BUT the insipid-looking goat's cheese gnocchi with rataouille and braised lamb bits was like eating nuggets of wallpaper paste swimming in a pool of chevre-flavoured slip. Let's hope it doesn't take them all spring long to sort out this dish on their seasonal menu.

EXPENSIVE. Good food, Great service, attentive, friendly
Sixteen dollar foie gras app had four marble size pieces hardly enough! Duck salad was excellent, Lamb was tender and delicious, although also pricey for portion size. Have to go back and judge with less pre game at Employees Only!

Little Owl is the perfect little treasure in the West Village, a great date spot; it's little, cozy, dark and romantic. The food is top-notch-- everything was excellent from the appetizers to the entrees and even dessert (except I would have prefered if they'd offered the fish deboned!). The service was attentive and kind, and every little detail made the experience just right--- right down to the way they brought the check... in a real book (rather than the typical, cold black holder)... An excellent restaurant on every level, probably my best NYC dining experience to date... and completely worth the wait!

I've been looking forward to eating here since I saw the menu for the little owl. After a nice brisk Sunday walk with my wife we found ourselves in the area and decided to give the Little Owl a try for brunch. The space is admittedly small and cramped, which seems to be the theme at a lot of village restaurants we end up at. The food was excellent, the meatball sliders are truly something special and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her poached egg with greens and sausage bun. My cheddar grits fell a little flat and the meal ended up being a bit pricey for what we ended up with. Overall though a cute little place, and I can imagine they execute a very nice dinner.

This Culinary gem shines bright in the confines of the West Villiage. From the second you walk in the door you are treated with the upmost attention, and the small cozy enviornment transforms the craziness of the city into your own little getaway. The sliders are to die for, the risotto melts in your mouth and is so unbelieveablly creamy, and Joey's use of truffles........WOW.
You will 100% leave feeling like you just had the best meal you ever had in your life......

This is such a charming restaurant. I love the feeling of the space, from the inside out. They serve consistently satisfying, tasty comfort food that is unpretentiously refined. There is a calm friendliness to the place that makes me want to move in and let the good people of the little owl take care of me till I'm too old to manage eating anything but their delcious polenta.

This 'hidden gem' is really not very hidden anymore (it is often a main attraction for the tour groups that huddle on the corner of Bedford every weekend). I've only been here for brunch, but literally everything we've ordered has been everything we've ordered has hit the mark. My personal favorite is the egg white omelette, which pairs well with the salad they offer on the brunch menu. The side orders of spicy fries and brussel sprouts are also good complements. I think my favorite aspect is how homey everything feels. Try to get the corner booth to your immediate right when you walk in. You can sit back, read the Sunday paper and sip your coffee (which they are great about refilling).

Mediocrity at Its Best!!!

Perhaps it was the notable absence of chef Joey Campanaro that was to blame but the sheer mediocrity of the food this evening definitely did not live up to this restaurant's hype! The pork chop was overcooked, the scallops too fishy, the lamb tasteless and the risotto bland. When the host asked how the food was and we told him the truth, he seemed to have been offended. Life is too short to return for more of the ordinary!
