I have lived in the East Village for over 20 years and have seen many restaurants come & go. Three of Cups has been a consistant spot for me and my friends to go to for many years, since the early 90"s. The food is classic Italian at a super price with really great pizza's from their wood burning oven and yummy oversized pasta dishes. the decor is cute with lots of brick, wood and candle light creating a laid back atmosphere. Most welcoming of all are the staff and owners who are always accomadating and attentive. I really love it here and I think most people will as well. Thank you Three of Cups!!!

Went for mother's day with family....blah.
The place was empty so we didn't notice any bad service like the other reviewers. They sat us by an open door with a draft. Had to move tables.
The food was equivalent to a bad diner. The menu has an ambitious selection that the kitchen can't live up to. Pizza was adequate but not for the price.
Bread was supposed to be hot but it was served to us cold and stale. The potatoes that came as side dishes were stale like they were cooked a few days ago. I think they were someone else's leftover's.
It was so bad that if I were drunk I wouldn't have enjoyed this meal. Stay away.
One good thing to say.... there was one really cute waitress... might go back to see her again.

A mozzarella and mimosa mess

My girlfriend and I tried Three of Cups for a late brunch on a rainy Sunday. I was immediately confused by the slightly medieval decor, but it was nothing compared to the horror which arrived on our plates. My poached eggs were rubbery, the prosciutto was cooked, and the "mozzarella" was that plastic stuff that comes rolled up for home baking, except it was cold. Disaster! We sent it back and I had the french toast instead which was actually pretty good. Oh yeah, and our mimosas were made of orange juice and soda. It could've been Fanta. The waitress was very nice about it but I'll never go back. Better off sticking with Paprika, possibly the best brunch in the East Village.

I met a friend at the small, cozy bar on the main level and we each had a generous glass of sangria. We were lead to a table in the back room, which had a warm romantic feel.
We ordered the calamari appetizer, which we both liked. I had the rigatoni with zucchini and eggplant and loved it. My friend ordered the basic spaghetti and meatballs and was also very pleased.
After dinner we went downstairs to the lounge. The transition was quite a surprise: grown up and jazzy to punk rock rec room. Although completely different from the upstairs, the lounge was also cozy. A great destination for a family gathering with older adults and twenty-somethings.

The Worst Service I've ever had in NY

I've been here many times, but not in the past 2 years. Man has it gone downhill. Last night the place was at about 30% capacity, and we had to wait almost two hours for our PASTA dishes.
My friend ordered something without mushrooms, and when it (finally) came, there it was, chock full of mushrooms. We had waited to long, she just picked them all out instead of sending it back.
The water glasses weren't ever refilled, and no one cleared away our bread basket or bread plates once they were finished, so the table was a crowded mess.
I will never EVER go back to Three of Cups.

Our dining experience at this restaurant was unbelievably horrible. As soon as we ordered... surrounded by empty tables... the waitress got pissed off at us for not ordering enough food. The owner then cam over and he was a compete jerk. We could not believe he was so rude when we were paying customers. When we left the place, my friend asked him why is was so rude to us and he threatened to fight him outside. UNBELIEVABLE...

The service was terrible. Tehy charged us because one of the group members got sick and had to leave, and they moved us in the middle of our meal 3 times. The worst was when the food didn't come for an 1 1/2 we kept asking for bread and they said that they were going to start charging us for it!!! The owners should be embarrassed about the operation they run and the service and servers they provide. I wouldn't never go back and would not recommend it. It is too bad because they food is cheap and alright.

It's great to step inside Three of Cups from the cold -- it's cozy and rustically-decorated. The value is terrific. There is a Happy Hour from 6-10 ( !! ) on weekdays and drinks are $3 at the bar. Also on weekdays there are two-for-one pizzas and a $12.95 price fixe that includes a salad, a pasta dish, and a glass of wine. There is a great selection of pizzas and pastas -- even the pickiest eater could find something.
