As their name suggests, Tokyo Bar is decorated by Japanese top creators, and and its "Anime" interior gives a fun vibe (not too nerdy, but seemingly stylish!) It serves Japanese "comfort foods" which is "Omu-Rice" (egg covered fried rice) , Curry Rice, Napolitan Spaghetti. They are the real Japanese food, people grow up eating. Having been to Japan quite sometime and enjoyed local foods, I was always looking for place like this in Tribeca- tasty, not touristy, real Japanese hang-out place - and found one in last December. I go there occasionally since then and the service seems to have become better and have more customers than when it's opened, now with its own cool DJs. Check it out before you'd have to wait in line. I'd love to come back to have my private birthday party here!

The previous reviewer must not have gone to the same restaurant that I did. I went to Tokyo Bar with my girlfriend about two weeks ago. First off, the service is friendly and food was served quickly. My girlfriend ordered the Omu-Rice and she loves it there and keep in mind she's a foodie and we've tried omu-rice at several places. I ordered the fedelini with squid and spicy cod roe and loved it. For dessert, we got the green tea chocolate souffle - delicious! We didn't order apps this time but I have ordered the fried chicken and it was good. In fact, we are going back again this Friday with friends and making it a weekly tradition! And their drinks are pretty good which makes it a plus!

NY Mag is pretty consitent with their restaurant reviews. If they are willing to put a spread up on a restaurant in the mag, then I think we can all agree the food is usually worth trying. Sadly for Tokyo Bar, which the mag reviews, the food was awful. I am certainly not looking to bash for the sake of it but the food was so bad, I didnt eat. One lady I was with suggested we leave even before the main courses came out. Leave! It is hard to ruin appetizers so badly that one diner wants to leave prior to the main but in the case of Tokyo Bar, every dish was terrible. The service was only slightly better but believe me, you can spend $130 in so many better ways then this restaurant. Seriously, dont ever go. Brutally honest but true.
