Wasn't expecting too much when I walked by it, but the first time I went there I was seated in the garden area, which is preferable to the dining area, where I sat then next two times. I think Tapas is generally a pretty crappy idea where you pay a lot and get a little. In addition to this being reasonably priced the food was fantastic. Especially the bacon wrapped dates with blue cheese. I've been there three times, I've ordered it five times. The pork belly was also very good as were the wings, which were tasty, but messy. I appreciate the finger bowl and lemon, but definately get that last.

Didn't expect much from this place...but the food we had was delicious, the wine excellent (a recommendation from an excellent server). Dinner was low-key, scrumptious, with familial, helpful staff.

The menu items at Traif don't have much in common other than being unkosher. That said, they're still pretty tasty. Start with the the yellow peaches salad over greens, accented with hazelnuts and bacon curls. The strawberry cinnamon-glazed pork ribs fall off the bone, and seared scallops over a rich serving of creamed corn with sage-pistachio brown butter are pure comfort food. Skip the pork sliders entirely, but don't leave without sharing a plate of the bacon donuts.

Hands down some of the best food I've had in or around NYC, plus you've got to appreciate the fact that it's a non-kosher restaurant right down the street from the haaaaacidic neighborhood in BK, not sure if that will be good for business but I definitely plan on visiting multiple times. My favorite dishes were the BBQ rib sliders, meatballs and spicy tuna deally.

I showed up to Traif not sure what to expect, my tastebuds were very pleasantly surprised! I've eaten a variation of the bacon wrapped blue cheese stuffed dates, but Traif's were particularly well executed little bursts of flavor - these are a must order - you will thank me later! We've all had baby back ribs, but I've never had them like this with strawberry cinnamon glaze. The cinnamon sugar flavor is familiar but new at the same time and will leave you wanting more...order 2 for the table so you don't have to share. Some of my favorite things artichokes, asparagus, maitake mushrooms - who knew that these earthy flavors would marry so well with sweetbreads? I didn't - and I'm so glad I tried this dish - the flavor is totally unique and seriously delicious. Since Traif's menu consists of small plates that are easy to share, this is a great opportunity to sample new flavors. I'm going back for brunch!!

i don't generally consider myself a huge pork person. but my experience at traif led me to believe that perhaps i've been living a shell of a life by failing to experience more frequently the magic that bacon can contribute to a seemingly ordinary dish. bacon donut holes. bacon wrapped dates. bacon and bleu cheese salad. these are things you've probably seen before. but not the way traif does them. the donut holes were light and glazed to perfection, and then dusted with a really tasteful amount of bacon bits. the salad was refreshing and elegant. bacon, of course, is a fatty food not to be overused. but traif's usage of the delicacy was never heavy-handed, and even a pork skeptic like myself is easily won over. the bartenders and servers were friendly and chill, just like the ambiance. there's a little back terrace, which makes this a perfect place to check out before the end of summer. i was very impressed by traif; it's difficult to balance rich foods without making them feel gluttonous, and traif did just that.

The wine list at Traif is limited and of the three glasses I tried, none stood out in any way. All tasted cheap. The whisky based drink I had at the bar was actually quite refreshing though with green tea and mint. The food had high and lows. Eggplant tempura with spicy tuna was quite nice as were the chorizo and lamb meatballs. My favorite dish was actually a salad with truffle oil, bacon, and peaches. I never like fruit in salads but this actually worked really nicely. My least favorite of all the dishes I tried were the pulled pork sliders, which tasted a bit too much like slim jims on a potato roll. The bacon donuts were quite tasty. The rest of the dishes I tired were mediocre- not really memorable, but not bad. There are definitely some highlights on the menu and once Traif is open longer, hopefully more of the dishes will come together in similar ways. The decor is pretty lacking, however it is an open kitchen and I always love getting to watch the chefs work. I didn't sit on the porch, but it looked really cool. I highly suggest you sit outside if you go. The service was great- everyone was really nice and even apologized for making me wait only a minute to close out my bar tab.

I think Traif is a great addition to the neighborhood (and is a big 'eff-you' to the predominately Hasidic community). I've been here twice, both times for events--restaurant review clubs. I think the portions are small but is some of the most experimental unkosher food I have ever tasted. I tried strawberry ribs, bacon doughnuts, sweetbread (which is offal), and tuna tartar on tempura eggplant. I wish this place success and will be looking forward to my next Traif adventure!

Wonderful service; terrible location (literally next to the abominable BQE, not near a subway); tasty and inventive food. Portions are small, even for tapas. Should get better with time and seasoning.
