Food was amazing
By James3213 on 6/4/2011
The food at Travertine was some of the best I have ever had. I usually do not rate any restaurant I go to, but this place deserved it. I had the black and white ravioli stuffed with chorizo and it was unbelievable. My companion had the burger and she loved it. There was an error with our bill and the staff was more than happy to fix the problem. This place is highly recommended
Would love to have tried the food - thwarted by terrible service
By gigo08 on 10/10/2010
I had a reservation for a recent friday night at 10:30PM. Arriving on-time I was told that it would be 10-15 minutes for us to be seated. 35 minutes into the wait I was told that we were third on the queue of people waiting for tables. 55 minutes after our reservation was booked we called it quits and were told that we were about to be seated but my response was "keep it". The hostess was not apologetic, didnt check on us, was not honest about the wait and didnt seem to care that we left there unhappy and hungry. I MIGHT go back to try the food, but given this first impression I think it is unlikely that we'll give a try.

I had a great time today. Our server, Atlanta was awesome in sharing her suggestions for the dinner. The appetizers were tasty but I especially enjoyed the pasta (vegetable) and the main course meal (Halibut). My fiance had the salmon and enjoyed it totally, especially the crispy potato with it. The dessert was tasty, I had pudding and fiance ate a type of tart. The service and food was great. The portions were good for someone who is watching weight and not trying to eat alot. We had appetizers, shared pasta and had our own entree.
Good Food, Great Service

We went with a party of 8 and enjoyed very friendly service throughout the evening. We all ordered a different entree which ranged from spectacular to good. Had a super evening.
Above average overall

Have to say that I wasn't impressed by Travertine when I first came in. I think the bar in the back is a little awkward with the seating in the front, but now with the doors open it makes more sense. I didn't like the weird harem-like tables to the side. But the lighting is nice, and it had a decent vibe. Started with the calamari which was quite decent. Cooked well, although could have used a little more seasoning. Gnocci was excellent. Dessert was sort of the usual italian selection, so a little uninspiring. Overall, a decent experience, but probably not worth the cost. A one time deal for me.
Great Scene - Fresh Pasta's worth coming back for

Any restaurant that starts off with an amuse bouche gets extra points with me. Overall, very good and would recommend to my foodie friends. The menu is seasonal and the wines are paired to the dishes by the Chef - hence the absence of a phonebook type wine list. Very attatractive staff , reminds of extra virgin in a way haha
Great setting - average food, poor wine
By kbattle on 4/9/2010
The setting is gorgeous and on an warm night the front doors were open to the street. Service and food were average to poor, disappointing from this group. Low point is definitely the winelist. Totally overpriced mainstream wines. $60 for Cloudy Bay SB (normally sub $20 in the wine store) is one example. Total bill ended up much higher than would have expected for a pretty average meal. Such a shame as interior really works and location is great - just need to revisit the food and wine.

the Australian wines were severely overpriced and the food was standard and unimpressive which is disappointing since I was so excited to check this place out.

What is so disturbing about this place is the incompetent and unprofessional management staff. Another poster on MenuPages wrote, "the service needs a big lesson in common sense - lying is bad for business." I couldn't agree more. Based upon the disgusting and dishonest way my guests and I were treated, I would never return.

i have been here a few times... great atmosphere, good looking crowd, and sensational food...
