I thought I'd give this place a second chance after myself and 3 friends had a very average dinner there a couple months ago: bland food, and mediocre service. We went back - for brunch - and it was dreadful. Sat at the bar - which only had one other person sitting there. It took 5 minutes to get acknowledged and we had to ask the (surly) barman for a drink. It's not hard to make a Bloody Mary, but clearly this guys twist on it was minimalist: minimal ingredients, panache, or ability to hand it to you in any kind of enthusiastic way. No acknowledgement that we may be interested in food: had to ask for menus, and 10 minutes later to order. The eggs were advertised with ratatouille. Which would have been nice had the ratatouille not been 80% water. It felt like scrambled eggs on soup. Fed up, under-nourished we left. Never to go back. Which by the fact that most people looked like tourists, is what most other locals have realized.....
Our server just ditched us!!

Being a huge fan of Sunday brunchs, I went there with a group of friends, and the server couldn't handle us! We were eabout 8, and definitely not difficult to manage, but he stopped taking care of us after another party of 20 people came in. It took us more than an hour to leave after we asked for our check; our server sent over the guy who picks up the dishes from the table, and obviously he had no idea what to do, and he charged everybody a wrong amount, then we requested someone else to take care of the mess, and it took them ages to fix thing. Sunday brunch is meant to be joyful, not stresful! Oh, the ambiance was awful as well. Don't go there!
Very average and therefore over priced

The one big positive about Tribeca Grill was the sommelier, who really knew his stuff and offered some excellent recommendations. Otherwise the experience was average for this type of venue. Yes, the food was cooked well and there was plenty of variety on the menu, but you could do just as good a job at home. As a result the entrees felt over priced by about $8 per plate. Dessert was very poor and the wrong flavored ice cream was served. In general, overpriced for what it is.

Came here with a bunch of my friends for my birthday back in may. We had an awsome time, we had a big table in the back room, and were constantly serviced by a group of waiters. I had the dry aged steak for my dinner, and it was absolutely delicious. great wine selection and amazing desserts. i would definately recommend it.
Who does NOT love Robert, so we tried it...

Made reservations the day of (Saturday night, even) and arrived on time with only a five-ten minute wait for a "killer" table (huge, round, leather cushioned seats) with a view of everything and everybody. No, we did NOT expect to see any of the famed owners of this establishment (they would get mobbed by those who would not have the courtesy to let them be), but we had heard that Mr. DeNiro had put a lot into the neighborhood, and we felt a visit was due. Our waitress was excellent and knew everything, including dietary health ingredients for cardio and info on the history of the place. Wines were exceptional. The food selections were, in fact, mediocre and over-priced. I think we paid for the name and the fame. Note: An actor of much less caliber and stature WAS at the table next to us, drunk, with loud, unbelievable profanity coming out that rivaled a hockey game. He should have been tossed, and they knew it. However, do see the genuine autographed cinema posters of Mr. DeNiros films in the hall of the lower level where you would least expect them! I considered armed robbery for a moment!

Incredible restaurant. If you like wine, they got it....the wine list was probably around 30 pages deep and easy to view. My party was seated immediately after making reservations a week in advance. The service was fantastic, including staff to answer any wine questions you may have. Food was delicious. Will be going back.

The dining experience at this very average restaurant with less than good quality service was not enhanced by the smugness of the hostess and the wait staff. I ordered a birthday dessert with candles for one of my guests which the staff brough over in complete silence looking quite pained by the experience. There are a zillion other restaurants in NYC that offer a much better dining experience.
Expectations, Menu and Service

My wife and I made a reservation a few days earlier. The resturant called back to confirm our reservation. We arrived 15mins early and waited for 1hour and 15mins to get seated. The Bar atmosphere was great, the patrons were friendly. The service and food was well below average for the price. I was not impressed!

The service at the tribeca grill is borderline embarassing. We always had an empty glass and when we asked the waiter what the specials were he could barely remeber. All in the food was decent...but the service really killed the night. Not to mention the seats were terrible and very uncomfortable
Over priced and poorly prepared food

Early lunch for four on a weekday. Although there were few customers and an ample wait and bus staff service was slow and inattentive. The lettuce in the Caesar salad was wilted and the Endive salad was not prepared with endive. There is a disconnect between the menu description and the prepared entrees and appetizers. The interior is well designed and clean but the food is prepared and served without joy.
- The best reviews give a clear sense of why you liked or disliked a restaurant, bar, or store. And that means details. Mention specifics dishes, type of crowd, pros and cons...
- If it's helpful to compare one place to another, go for it.
