Greek to me
By tourist on 10/10/2011
Our party of five, with only one that had been to Greece, ordered five different dishes and everyone raved. The pasticio (mac & chopped sirloin) was sublime - the nutmeg out of this world. The lamb gyro succulent. Hospitality awesome, ambiance definitely Greek. Would go back in a hearbeat. Made trip to nyc unforgettable.

Truly a hidden gem! The service was friendly, quick, efficient and the food was authentic, generous and spectacular. We were a group of four, one of which had lived in Greece for 25 years. She raved about the dips, meats, cheeses and Greek wine. It is a great casual place to hang out on Sunday and have a feast! Order everything on the menu...there is nothing that wont make your mouth water!

We had some out of town guests in and picked Uncle Nicks based on some glowing reviews on this site. I am happy to say that the expectations were met and Uncle Nicks delivered a delicious and authentic greek meal. The service was excellent, the food was not perfect, but still very good. Overall I would recommend for some real Greek cuisine.
Love the moussaka
By food_is_amazing on 4/20/2008
If you can get a table in under half-an-hour, consider yourself lucky. The service is rather slow, but the food is good and fresh. I like the moussaka ($9.95 at lunchtime--a steal!), vegetable or regular; the fried calamari is light and great for sharing. So long as you are not in a serious hurry, this is a great lunchtime option in a strip of real estate that ought to be overflowing with reasonable, tasty food options, but is not.
Real Food! Not a tourist trap
By SamSofa on 9/23/2005
Uncle Nick's was one of those places that this tourist felt was authentic ethnic cusine, and solid good food. We went for lunch, but ordered "dinner." Excellent fresh fish (red snapper)and lamb chops. If there is any fault, it is that the portions are too large. The large Greek salad could have fed our entire family of four. (The small salad is more than large enough for one person.) The manager waited on us,which is something unusual, and gave us the run down on what is authentic Greek and what were customer favorites. Excellent place for locals, business persons and tourist--everyone. Yeah, the decor is simple, but Uncle Nick's is all about Greek food.
Efharisto! (Thank you in Greek)

Just as in Greece, the service is a slower pace, so if you're seeing a show say so. Other than that the food is fabulous, the decor isn't exciting, they save it for the spicing. Definately worth the wait and the trip. I've eaten there many times and it's consistantly wonderful - so go, enjoy and be sure to say ... efharisto!

Yes, you can get a bottle or glass of Ouzo,or Retzina, and more. As you enter this large restaurant, you can see the chef and his staff busily grilling, cooking, basting, flinging, serving, schmoosing(Sorry, that's not Greek)Tony and Mike Vanatakis, prepare each fish selection with simplicity and care. A few excellent appetizers -- crispy fried smelts, tender grilled baby octopus, marvelous sweetbreads, and giant lima beans with tomatoes and herbs -- make a satisfying meal. Specialties include Fresh Seafood,Lamb Shiskabob. Opa!!!,
