This has been the worst dining experience I have ever had!!! THE STAFF IS DISGRACEFUL..NEED TO BE SHOWN A DICTIONARY TO SEE WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE MEANS AND IS!!I will never forget this experience in my life....the time we entered, we were being convinced to sit on a tight table for 5,when we were 7!!coz they didnt have a table in the open section of the restaurant. Then when we refused to sit,we were told that we have to order fast but they will only take an order when we sit on the table first...When we got a place and asked whether they carry pani puri-WE WERE TOLD IT'S NOT SUMMER!! we got the cutlery with the plates-NO SPOONS! on asking for spoons we were given 5 spoons :[ ON TOP OF ALL THIS-THEY WERE SO unethical and RACIST- they told us on our face that u are talking like a MARWADI OR SINDHI...coz only they are like that!! IF I WAS NOT OUT WITH GUESTS AND IT WAS NOT LATE-i would not stay another second there! I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE SAID SORRY WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE DAY I WOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER DAY AND DIDNT HAVE TO TAKE THEIR BULL****! they don't deserve a place in newyork city!!

A shameful representation of the Indian Cuisine

You walk in at the main level with unwelcoming staff who offer no direction of where to go. Hesitantly walk up the stairs in hope and search for an Indian restaurant. Once seated, you cannot help but feel cold and unwanted. Forget about a smile from the waiters, they toss the menu in front of you and snatch them back once you place the order. The Murg Chicken - too sweet and lacking gravy. As the kitchen, was closing, we asked our waiter for extra gravy on the side. Response - "No, kitchen is closed". There is neither courtesy nor even a trace of hospitality. Save yourself from this experience unless you are a publicist or a writer and can do something to make a difference - Truly, NYSurvivor.

Best Indian in the city

Located in the theatre district, this upscale Indian restaurant has an amazingly authentic menu in a spacious setting unique to NYC. There is a constant buzz but you do not have to shout to be heard. The food is phenomenal, authentic, well prepared and superbly represents the various regional cuisines of India. The tandoori prawns are a must as are the ginger lamb chops. Service was prompt, courteous and the waiters were knowledgeable in providing guidance on the menu. All in all a memorable dinner - can’t wait to go back

Horrible service

Was served a lamb dish when I ordered chicken, and when this was pointed out they took 30 minutes to make sure that chicken was indeed what I had ordered and it was their mistake (during which time we just waited with no food). Then pointed out to me that I had already served myself (lamb)and therefore would I like to buy the lamb dish? (Apparently they would have served this to someone else if I hadn't served myself)... Finally the chicken arrived (an hour later) in a pool of red oil (about half an inch). Worst indian food I have ever had. I have had better food from Utsav before, but I think they were taking revenge for having to swap dishes. Horrible experience. I will never go there again.
