Have been there twice now.Great food, authentic Italian and very good value. Wide choice of excellent wines by the glass. Polenta and truffle dishes are very good. Casual and relaxed. Nice little garden out the back.

Uva is pretty much whatever you want it to be. A casual friendly place for a drink with friends after work or for meeting a blind date for a trial run or for a romantic spot to linger over a multitude of courses while sampling some of the best wines for your dollar. It is a place that can quickly make you feel at home, with nary a frat boy in sight. It's a local favorite and I am there at least once a month. Love that people are coming from other 'hoods just to go there. The UES needs more places with a distinctive personality and creative cuisine to match. It's a keeper.

I ate here for the first time on a visit to NYC for Valentine's Day and absolutely loved it. A friend had recommended this place and it lived up to all my expectations and more. It is a cozy, casual, non-pretentious, romantic spot that serves excellent Italian food (nothing "over the top") and wine for reasonable prices. The service was great - the wait staff was pleasant, polite, and attentive. This place would be great for a first date, a special occasion, or just hanging out with friends. The bar area was packed and noisy, but the tables toward the back of the restaurant and on the (heated) patio were a perfect spot for a more romantic occasion. The food was delicious! The menu has a good variety of choices, including vegetarian dishes, and the international wine menu is impressive. The bruschetta appetizer was fabulous. My only regret is that I wish we had saved room for dessert!

This place is wonderful. The service is impeccable. The gnocchi is incredible. There is a wide selection of delicious wines and the service is glad to assist in choosing one. I would recommend this place for a date or get together with friends. Lovely!

Great small cheese plates and plates you can share with a friend. if you can come with 1 or 2 other people so you can wait a bit and get a seat in their covered outside area in the back, - its to die for and such a nice treat away from the city streets!

Great decor! Good food, terrible service

What a cute place! Inside and the outdoor garden are beautiful spots to have a meal. Try the crabmeat and avocado appetizer. Divine! My only gripe would be the service. I'm very permissive of spotty service (this being New York and all) but our waitress was ridiculously negligent. She literally ignored us and at one point sat down and had a conversation with someone at their table. If this was a scheduled break they should have arranged for a replacement. She acted visibly annoyed when we finally got her attention to order. It's a cute place but the negative attitude of the waitress put a damper on things.

I was dining at Uva yesterday and was subject to a most unpleasant incident due to the actions of one of the managers. I must preface this concern by pointing out that I have been a patron of Uva for many years and have always delighted in the experience. I am extremely disappointed that the behavior of said manager was so inappropriate that I can never, with good conscience, go back. I arrived for lunch at 3pm on Sunday, October 16th. The reason for my oddly timed lunch was that I was meeting a dear friend who recently gave birth to her little girl (6 months). We ordered a bottle of wine, a couple of bottles of sparkling water, small bites and salads - it was lovely as always. At one point, I held the baby and was giving her kisses, allowing her to bounce her little legs on my lap as she cooed and, yes, shrieked a bit. We were laughing at her antics and enjoying her happiness as we gossiped and sipped our wine. As we finished signing our bill, the manager came over to our table and asked the new mother to leave the restaurant. I believe she said, You need to go, I can not have that kind of noise in here. As I previously pointed out, the baby was not crying, nor had she cried at any point during our time at Uva. I can not tell you how awful I felt for my friend, or how angry I was to have done my part as a patron only to be asked to leave the moment my bill was paid, generous tip included. I think it is vital that mothers on the UES are aware of this incident.
