This the closet thing to traditional bbq in the city. Great prices and fun atomsphere combined with great tasting food make this restaurant one of my favorites (in nyc).

Many people consider VirgilÂ’s off Times Square the real thing when it comes to BBQ. It definitely has the rural Southern roadhouse look and feel. Many Southern customers flock to this place when they come to Manhattan. The place is filled with all the beer signs, tacky trappings and awards for the best BBQ. We tried our BBQ favorites; pulled pork BBQ and BBQÂ’d beef brisket. The savory pork BBQ was darn good, but not the best. The brisket fell well short of the best, as did the hand cut fries, cold slaw and pickles. Service was typical of a roadhouse, more friendly than capable. Barbeque wine lists are a bit of an oxymoron and while the Pinot Noir was drinkable, this is a far better beer and Southern cocktail place.

If you are from the South from states such as (TN, MS, AR) then you will love this place. It is the closeset to good BBQ I have tried in NYC. It's better than Daisy Mae, Blue Smoke, for sure better than Dallas BBQ, Tennessee Mountain, RUB BBQ, and Bubbys. Yes, I've tried them all becasue I LOVE BBQ. Go to Virgils if you want the best pulled pork in NYC.

No doubt...the best pulled pork sandwich this side of the Mississippi (all yankee/ southern states combined). On my worst day...I go to Virgil's, because it is the best! ..oh, and the staff is amazing too.

We met our daughter, recently relocated to New York City, across from our hotel at Virgil's. Great appetizer was the fries with cheese, and we took jalapenos on the side. Everyone opted for their favorite barbecue items--my husband and I opted for the barbecue brisket sandwich--filling, tender and just waiting for our selection of sauce. I battled (willingly) to finish mine .. only thing I would veto was the "homemade" lemonade; not enough lemon. Otherwise, great, tasty, stick to the ribs first meal in Times Square .. would definitely go again.

Ribs, Wings, Burgers, Steaks, this place has it all and then some. Great atmosphere, great food, great times. Not your normally 'salty' after-taste you get with some of these places, and certainly somewhere which is comfortable with families and parties alike. HIghly Recommended.

Went to NYC and this was one of my favorite places to eat compared to all the pricey rigamorole and what not for that area. Had the wings with scorned woman hot sauce. Delicious. Recommend the place to anyone going to NYC/.

The place is great! Don´t hesitate if you have to wait for a while before getting a table. Usually you get the table a lot faster than what they say. Great food and big beer selection!

It's hard to get in, particularly before showtime, but it's worth booking ahead as it's lively, has great drinks and is an affordable choice for this area. Whether you want the pig-out or something smaller, the brisket, ribs (served with several sauces on the table), an assortment of typical southern accompaniments and the most delicious baking soda muffins (additional cost), you're sure to leave full and happy. It's messy and may be better for a date that's not a first date as you're finger-licking for hours afterwards. There's an upstairs and downstairs - and both tend to be filled up during the rush hours.
