A few years back Virgil's was a family favorite in the area and, after a period of poor service and declining food, I'm happy to report Virgil's is back! If you tried it in the past four years or so and were disappointed, try again. Our server was very attentive and took the time to bring us a sample of salad dressings before ordering. Ask for the bacon vinaigrette, to die for! The buttermilk biscuits with maple butter are out of the world and I've only found them served this way at Virgil's. There's a great cocktail called 'fall off the porch' or something like that. It's strong (for me anyway) but tasty. I'll be going back more often now!

This has got to be my favorate restaurant. The first time I want there I had the flat dogs and they were delicious. The next time i had he Kansas city fried chickenYUM YUM YUM. the french fries and mac&cheese sides were great and i reccomend this place to everyone. the service is nice and recognized me once. the decor is fine but a bit man caveish. the food is a tiny pricey but worth it.

First time @ Virigil's today for dinner with my boyfriend. According to him, the ribs were great there. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich (came with potato salad and mustard slaw) which was good...maybe a 7 out of 10. I also ordered a small side of macaroni and cheese which I quickly regretted after tasting it. Overall it was definitely a place to check out at least once but I don't know about it being spectacular.

There was once a time when Virgil's was a bastion of BBQ. But sadly that era is over. Service was erradic, food was dry and obviously had sat under heat lamps for too long. Sad, Virgil's used to be a great spot. No more . . .

I have eaten at Virgils about a dozen times. Each time it has been excellent - food, service - all of it! The worst thing for me is its TS location, which I usually try to avoid at all costs. But I will go to the middle of tourist trap hell for Virgils. The ribs are my favorite and we always get the dessert sampler, even if we can only take one bite each from being so full. Ha! This is the kind of place you walk in hungry and leave feeling like an overstuffed, overfed American. And sometimes that is just how you want a meal to make you feel.

This the closet thing to traditional bbq in the city. Great prices and fun atomsphere combined with great tasting food make this restaurant one of my favorites (in nyc).

Many people consider VirgilÂ’s off Times Square the real thing when it comes to BBQ. It definitely has the rural Southern roadhouse look and feel. Many Southern customers flock to this place when they come to Manhattan. The place is filled with all the beer signs, tacky trappings and awards for the best BBQ. We tried our BBQ favorites; pulled pork BBQ and BBQÂ’d beef brisket. The savory pork BBQ was darn good, but not the best. The brisket fell well short of the best, as did the hand cut fries, cold slaw and pickles. Service was typical of a roadhouse, more friendly than capable. Barbeque wine lists are a bit of an oxymoron and while the Pinot Noir was drinkable, this is a far better beer and Southern cocktail place.

If you are from the South from states such as (TN, MS, AR) then you will love this place. It is the closeset to good BBQ I have tried in NYC. It's better than Daisy Mae, Blue Smoke, for sure better than Dallas BBQ, Tennessee Mountain, RUB BBQ, and Bubbys. Yes, I've tried them all becasue I LOVE BBQ. Go to Virgils if you want the best pulled pork in NYC.

No doubt...the best pulled pork sandwich this side of the Mississippi (all yankee/ southern states combined). On my worst day...I go to Virgil's, because it is the best! ..oh, and the staff is amazing too.
