I live in the San Francisco Bay are, but I'm from Brooklyn and I grew up in the 50's. I know what I'm talking about. I "LOVE" NY italian food. And I eat as much of it as I can when I'm back in NY. Most "old school" NY Italian restaurants are tired, even the good ones have lost "IT". Not this place. The food is excellent. I won't list the dishes because if you don't have a good idea of what they are, you're a faker. The bar has everything you'd want. The service is great. The place is the perfect "Hollywood" set of an authentic Old School NY Italian Restaurant. Volare is not "cool". Thank God.

That's the best part of this restaurant. Just tell them, and they'll prepare it. The owner is a great guy, and makes for a very enjoyable evening. At the end of the meal (at least when we were there), out comes the grappa!
