Very Disappointing to say the least...

I ate at 'wichcraft in Chelsea for the first time yesterday, and I have never had a worse sandwich. Really. I ordered the aged gruyere with roasted onions on rye: the bread was so hard it was I could barely crunch into it, the cheese was tasteless and chewy, the onions were mush. It was on a nice plate, but with absolutely no garnish or style, and the sandwich was thrown together, with the onions all in one place. It came so fast I wonder if it was pre-made and sitting around. It was about 12:30 PM. I would have complained but I was with a hiring manager and didn't want to seem difficult. Oh, and the service is non-existent, you put in your order at the registers and pay before you get your food. I work in the building, and was looking forward to a nice treat, but will not go back. Overpriced, too.

I have been to wichcraft in Bryant Park three times. July 6th, 8th, and 10th of 2005. The service was terrible, and I have a degree in business management so I know what is good and bad. Kevin, who said he was the manager, but looked more like a nervous high school kid at the sandwich counter spent more time trying to figure out how to handle the amount of business there during lunch than actually looking up and noticing that there was a line of 25 people waiting. On my last visit, I heard two employees talking about how a deposit of over $4000 was missing from a cooler where the money was being left together with other food products!! I dont need to hear that! Look guys, either get your act together or pack it up. It sounds to me like your cash procedures need an overhaul, and your management...(sorry Kevin)lack the ability to handle REAL NYC business. The bread on the tuna sandwich I bought for almost ten dollars was like biting into a sponge! Bad food=0 customer retention. Did anyone in this organization learn that in college? Good luck boys, your gonna need it.

Not so impressed

Spent the weekend in the city - and searched out 'witchcraft to try. It did not meet expectations. The sandwich selection was interesting and diverse - but the execution was poor. I had high hopes for the Pulled Pork Sandwich but the woman behind the counter burnt the bread - and the pork was really dry. We also tried to the Ham/Pear Panini and were equally unimpressed. The services was slow - and the drink selection was poor. On a positive note - my daughter did enjoy the PBJ on nice sourdough bread!

Very disappointed in having to pay $4.38 for a soggy oatmeal cookie/strawberry ice cream sandwich that crumbled at the first bite

A real disappointment

Let me first say that I love Craft--I think Colicchio's approach to food is brilliant, but it simply does not transfer to this place. Paying $9.50 for panini that is, at best, mediocre is a waste of money. The chicken sandwich I had was simply lacking in flavor. The service is fairly efficient, considering that a good-size line forms around lunch time. As for the decor, it's rather hideous. You think they could hang a picture on the wall or something. They did get the air-conditioning fixed, so at least you're not sweltering.

Slightly expensive, but very well made sandwiches. I am a little disappointed at their beverage selection, though. I feel that it's not diverse enough. Again, taking away the wait, this is a solid lunch or quick snack option if I'm in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I suppose nobody would.

One of the best sandwiches in Flatiron/Gramercy area

Beats institutions in the area like Eisenberg's or Defontes. The sandwiches are healthier, cheaper and a lot more tasty! Get the gruyere and cramelized onion on rye.

There is no sandwich better than the roast pork with the jalapenos. It is awesome.

Lives up to the hype

Finally made my way there for the tasty sandwiches. Sitiuated next to craft and craft bar this very nice place serves very interesting sandwiches. Now i heard that the sicilian tuna was good so i tried that. It was excellent. Nice size excellent bread every ingredient was perfect, even though i'm not a black olive fan i kept them in the sandwich anyway. It was $8.00 but worth it. I'll go back...real soon.

i was on a visit in nyc on business and came across the wichraft on 8th and broadway. living in germany and getting around in europe alot, as well as being in the food and restaurant industry i somehow have the feeling i know a little bit and have seen a lot. i was on a lunch break and tried two sandwiches and my partner as well and we loved the sicilian tuna on the greens and the truffled cheese sandwich as weel as the pork and beef sandwiches. the atmosphere was great, the music wonderful and the service was naturally friendly and interested! as soon as i am back in town i will be back!!!
