Why bother making a reservation when they don't honor it and are hostile and aloof about it? This is place is joke.

I'm not sure which part of last night was the worst: the fact that we waited for an hour after our reservation to be seated; were then told to "get up, that's not your table;" finding out that the large party sat at the table that was not ours actually had a later reservation; or the total lack of apology for the ridiculous wait time or the rudeness of the maitre d'. My friend's birthday would have been ruined if Patrick and co. at Smith & Wollensky's hadn't taken such good care of the 11 of us. I used to work in the service industry, and was taught that when a guest chooses your restaurant for a special occasion, you go out of your way to make the evening perfect for them. I was appalled by Wolfgang's failure to even try, and don't care if the steaks are good enough to cause orgasm. I'll never go back.

I, too, was made to wait recently for well over an hour past my reservation time. During that endless wait in the cramped entryway, I witnessed a succession of other angry customers engaged in heated discussions with the same awful silver-haired host, who offered nary an apology and instead chose to act rudely and dismissively towards his patrons. While gruff, curt service is a sort of staple of the New York Steakhouse dining experience, it's usually more of a pose than an actual attitude problem, and is much easier to swallow when practiced by the people who are going to bring the meat to the table. In any event, after our host had told us "just a few more minutes" for the upteenth time and it became clear that he had no intention of seating us in the foreseeable future, we gave up and left, angry, hungry and unsettled. It's really too bad, because I was really quite hungry for a nice juicy steak. Somebody should remind the host that he is not a bouncer at Bungalow. His job is to warmly welcome customers in, and graciously seat them down for dinner.

This might be a little harsh, but I never had to deal with an unprofessional staff at a "good" restaurant. I just got off the phone with the manager, Arnie, who has no recollection of booking my party. Now the reason I had to speak to the manager in the first place is too long of a story, let’s just say the hosts are even less professional than the manager. For further reference I highly recommend that if you have an important event make a reservation elsewhere. Besides, the horrid service, I have had much better steak, in other restaurants of the comparable status in a superior atmosphere, with a lesser amount of noise and better accommodations.

Perhaps the worst meal I've had in seven years of Manhattan living. Waited almost an hour for a table without so much as a "sorry". Food was overcooked. Service was rushed and we were stuffed in a back room . Never again.

We are huge fans of Peter Lugar's, but are weary of the road trip. We were excited to try Wolfgang's. The food was good, but given how much we value service as part of the dining experience, it is highly unlikely we would ever go back. Our medium rare steaks came back at cooked more than medium. We were made to feel stupid for sending it back, and then the caustic servers proceeded to ignore us the rest of the evening. We were given the lowest level of basic service available. It was horrific. A complaint to the manager on the way out did little, and the only attention we got was the server complaining about his tip as we walked out. Spend you money at Mark Joseph or make the road trip to the real deal.

Despite the hype, the steak did not live up to expectations. We had the steak for 3 and it was very good but without much flavor. Go to Sparks or the Strip House instead.

Granted a forty five minute wait on a confirmed reservation made two weeks, prior with all of my party on time did not put me in a good mood: the food was good but not uniquely spectacular like at his old work spot. I don't think I'll be back.
