My Lhasa Apso is show quality

Yes, I would go back!

and I have had several people stop me on the street asking where I purchased him. I got him at American Kennel who gave me the name and phone number of the breeder and encouraged me to speak with her. I felt very confident he was NOT from a puppy mill. His pedigree from the AKC shows that the dogs in his lineage have DNA numbers. Puppy Mill owners do not take that kind of trouble with their animals. My veterinarian says he is a healthy, wonderful example of his breed and shows good early care. Why did I choose a pet store over going directly to a breeder? Because I could not find a breeder in three nearby states who had a dog with his coloring. I spent a year going into this pet store every week observing the animals and their care prior to my purchase. Only when I was satisfied that they were a caring establishment, did I make my move. My boy was in the store one day before I saw him and bought him on the spot. Yes, he cost a great deal of money. Would I buy again from this place? Absolutely.

Pet store puppies are puppy mill puppies

No, I would not go back!

The noticeably sickly-looking puppies in the 20+ wire-floor cages of this pet store did not come from reputable breeders, who don't, as a rule, sell their dogs through pet stores. These puppies came from puppy mills, and therefore from mothers who will spend their lives breeding in cages. It's wrong and I won't support it.

High quality/high cost

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Also, the rule is to never puy a pedigree pup from a pet store. One saying hits the mark; the other saying didn't hold true for us. You definately pay alot at American Kennel but you get a great addition to the family. We would not hestitate to buy another pup from the store, provided it had just arrived and was healthy. Our vet says we got a great pedigree pup. And, a chance encounter in the Park with another vet yielded the same reaction. Every situation is different but we had a great experience.

the staff will always say yes and never give you any advice on whether this is the right pet for you. THEY HAVE NO BEDDING OR TOYS FOR ALL THE 25 OR SO DOGS INSIDE THE STORE!!!! the poor dogs are crying and whimpring in the store all day. You feel like buying them all it is so sad. their products are beautiful but thats all.

Top of the line pet store

This place is wonderful. I purchased a kitten there and my bestfriend bought her puppy there. The store is clean, the animals are well cared for and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful (hailed a cab for me and loaded all my things in)there is even a veterinarian on site. Fabulous all around. However very expensive, don't be surprised to find cats with price tags over $1,500 but these animals are seriously worth it.

Yes, I would go back!

I went to American Kennels to buy my puppy and they were very friendly and helpful, made me feel very certain on my purchase. I even went back to look for a second dog, even though they could not meet my specific needs at the time, they invited me back to check in a couple of weeks.

I really enjoyed shopping here for my puppy the staff was friendly and so helpful in answering all of my questions. I was so happy with my puppy, she is so healthy and beuatiful everybody loves her!!! I am really glad i chose this store for this new addition to our family.
