Not as big and not as pricy, ROCK STAR CRYSTALS has great mineral specimens at great prices. Call them at 212 675 3065 or go to They may be the little guys of NYC rock shops, but you will be amazed at the rocks and minerals stocked ceiling to floor!

Don't let them touch your jewelry!

The store does have a large variety of gems, except the one I was looking for (gold in quartz). I bought an overpriced stone (I checked the price with two other jewelers), and asked to have the stone cut and set in my grandmother's Art Deco ring. They did a horrible job, ruining my ring (portions were broken, glue everywhere, the stone was chipped and asymmetrical). It was a joke; I could not believe they'd let it out of their store where other people could see the poor work they did. I wish I could post a picture. They offered me my money back in merchandise. Please, take your jewelry elsewhere for a setting. I wish I did.
