The customer service at this messy store is non-existent. No one welcomes you when you arrive, no one calls when they say they will and the only way I got my order underway was by calling and emailing multiple times. Then the only way I got the work done was by emailing, calling multiple times. When someone got on the phone they said they would call the person in charge and they would call back and they didn't until I called again. Got excuses that were lame for not responding to emails. The finished drapes got to my home just in time for the event I was getting ready for. JUST. I ordered 3 months in advance and was told 3 weeks. Everything fit and the end product is nice but just go elsewhere where you don't have to beg for scraps of attention and have to manage the entire process yourself.

If you're not buying THAT day and only asking questions to better understand the process before returning another day to start the process, they are rude rude RUDE! It seems they pre-judge you based on how you're dressed, age, and race. (In my defense, I am young but little do they know I am very successful. I just came from the gym and I was closer to the store than going home to change and come back. I'm usually busy with work so I was only able to go that day) Beckenstein isn't even prestigious and it's a mess in there. It's a run-down store, too expensive for it's own good. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, I'd rather go to a retailer with better service, assistance, better selection and quality, and nicer employees. I was actually excited for this new home project I had for my large bay window, but after going here, I was so baffled by the way they talked down to me.

My wife wanted to freshen our home for my Son's Bar Mitvah. She spoke to a friend who was a designer. Her friend came up with a wonderful selection of fabrics, wallcovering and window treatments. Unfortunatly after we received her estimate for reupholstery,drapery and wall upholstery my heart was in my throat because of the overall cost.I went online to see if there were other people who could quote us a price and would work with consumer and not just designers.We googled NYC drapery and found an old time,reputable firm call Beckenstein fabric and Interiors.When we asked around we were told"everyone knows about Beckensteins". Anyway we went there with out designer(who we paid a fee to) and worked with them to get the project done. We saved over 50% and got it done on time.We weren't happy with our original down and feather cushions after delivery of our Sofa. We called John,our sales person. He immediatly sent a pick-up person and returned the next day with the cushion fully fluffed and stuffed.

I had been all up and down the garment district when I decided to search for "fabrics" on the NYMetro website. I needed an irregular sized round tablecloth made and when I called Beckenstein (one of the results from the search), they said they could sell me the fabric and make the item I wanted. Skeptical, I paid them a visit. This store is not for the faint of heart. You can spend hours testing, feeling, and fingering fabrics here. I had never seen so much high-quality selection under one roof. Toiles? Too many! Stripes? A zebra would be jealous! And if you actually want a zebra print to adorn something in your home, they have the real thing imported from Africa. (Needless to say, the PETA people should pass on this excursion.) But for those who must have that special something and need informed associate to assist you, this is the place. Be prepared to pay a (worthwhile) premium.
