It seems that B.C.S. competitors write all their reviews. i have been a loyal customer since 2003 and never had i had a bad experience. i dont know much about cheese, but all their products are nicely displayed [not like murrys where the cheese looks like it is thrown in and just covered with a plastic bag] and the employees are always helpful and know a lot about cheese and food. so come on people lets all stop hating on Bedford cheese cause people in the know KNOW it's the best

what is the deal with people hating on the bcs. this place is awesome. great cheese, friendly staff and as massive selection of fine groceries. maybe all the people who complain about bad service should work a retail job once in their life and realize that you cant please all the people all the time. on that note, sure you COULD buy you cheese from tops a huge grocery store, or you could support a small local business. you decide maybe we should try to get a wal-mart in brooklyn cause then we could get everything on the cheap and we all know how friendlty their staff is. ever see those commercials wal-mart staff just smiles and roll those prices back. haters if you cant stay out just try to refrain from posting your negativity about of my fave stores.

Profusely knowledgeable staff with a sharp wit. Highly recommended, although do not expect this shop to be a bargain basement. This joint is meant for foodies and cheese enthusiasts, if you want a financial deal that compromises on taste and selection, go to Costco and just stick to Monterey Jack.

I like the Bedford Cheese Shop. I've always had a good experience there. But as usual in life and art everybody brings their experiences and/or baggage to the table. I'm in love with the Red Head Girl With Blue Eyes. ( Coincidently, I saw her tonight at Rye ) Anyway, If I was in a band I would write a song for the Bedford Cheese Shop Girl And then I would go buy some cheese at the Bedford Cheese Shop

I have tried and tried to like this place. I buy a lot of cheese, prosciutto, and antipasti sorts of things, don't mind spending a good amount of money for good quality, and I really want to support my neighborhood. But the service is spotty and strange, and every time I go in something off-putting happens. My recipe calls for 3 oz of prosciutto, but they will only sell a quarter pound minimum. I've bought prosciutto from at least a dozen purveyors in the city, and I have never encountered this. Very un-neighborhoody sort of policy. And then the cheese is extremely expensive-- I mean expensive in comparison to other good cheese shops, like Murray's. I don't mind paying more for neighborhood convenience, but it's a lot more expensive-- sorry I can't quantify this exactly. I've now been in at least 10 times, but it's just not worth it anymore-- all my bad feelings about this place have stacked up and I won't go back.

Buying cheese should be fun and exciting, but the Bedford Cheese Shop does not offer a pleasant experience. Unless you know exactly what you want, and need at least 1/4lb of it (1/4 minimum per cheese), I would not recommend going here. For all the delicious cheese they carry, I consistently leave feeling unsatisfied by the staff's uninspired recommendations. It feels as if they could care less about cheese, and are more focused on socializing with each other. I really wish they would stop hiring local hipsters with attitudes. I have received poor service every time I have been in, and have since stopped going.
