Great stuff, terrible staff and appalling customer service
By limonabug on 6/8/2011
Bird has great stuff and okay the prices are not for everyday shopping but it's exciting to pick out stuff there once in a while for a treat. That said, the snottiness of their Park Slope location's staff, their rude and just cheap tricks when it comes to customer service is just appalling. I have put up with their nonchalant and obnoxious attitudes just because I didn't care, you buy and you leave BUT they really rubbed me up the wrong way when they said they would not exchange an item they said they would within a certain timeframe they guaranteed upon purchase, and then went back on their word just "because". "Sorry it seems like X person misspoke". Well hang on a second, doesn't she work for you? How can you not be accountable for this? As you can imagine, it wasn't an amount that you could just ignore. You clearly said you'd exchange it, I'm not even looking for a refund, just keep your word and exchange it. Never ever, EVER will I shop there again or recommend it to anyone. They are snobs and liars. You don't run a business that way. I never even write reviews for anything, and I'm usually all about supporting my neighborhood stores believe me, but this had to be said. They are disgraceful as a store.
Unbelievable Selection, but Pricey

The Men's colthing targets a niche market: Those who dwell in urban, hip (not hipster), worldly, and fashion-matured communities -- sounds like a perfect catch in NYC. There are brands such as Steven Alan, APC, Felix, etc. This is by far my favorite store in NYC (born and raised) yet. Small in size, the shop is rather soothing and relaxing -- not overwhelming. The people who work there are extremely nice, down to earth, and definitely know what looks good on you. You leave Bird with the feeling that such a shop must be your little secret. Unfortunately, it is expensive. That isn't there fault though! The clothing is relatively in the same price range as if the pieces were in their respective company stores. Thus, Bird's competitive advantage is that they offer many different fashionable brands and lines in one cute place - a chill mini-Barney's.
- The best reviews give a clear sense of why you liked or disliked a restaurant, bar, or store. And that means details. Mention specifics dishes, type of crowd, pros and cons...
