THIS WINE STORE WAS ORIGINALLY OWNED BY A WONDERFUL FRENCH WINE DEALER AND LOVER OF WINES..HE WENT BACK TO FRANCE AND SOLD IT. SINCE AS MY NEIGHBOURHOOD GOT GENTRIFIESD AND 'YUPPIFIED' TO DEATH THE SERVERS ARE RUDE, ARROGANT AND TALK ABOUT THEMSELVES AS YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE WINES..THEY ARE AFFECTED AND THOUGH IT IS MY NEIGHBOURHOOD WINE PLACE I WILL NOT GO THERE UNLESS I ONLY HAVE TO, YES THE WINES ARE GOOD BUT WHO CARES IF YOU DONT FEEL WELL SERVED...SOME SERIOUS CULTURE TRAINING IS NEEDED...DON'T NEED ANY ARROGANCE AND ATTITUDE

The other reviewer must have a grudge. " Oxidized wine", five or six times in a row ? That is a beyond whacky story. I have been going there for years, I have no personal connection to the employees or the store. The wine selection is very good, the staff are almost too helpful (I prefer to ruminate and rummage by myself at length). The store ownership has changed hands at least once but the quality remains strong. Since it opened I have bought a truck load of wine and never an oxidized bottle. Has every bottle been amazing ? No, if I said that it was you should assume I'm lying. My experiences have been consistently positive. The only negative for me is it's a bit dark, no doubt to protect the wines and exude the energy of a wine cellar . . . it makes searching a little more arduous. Overall a great place.

Honestly you are better off buying a bottle of wine from your neighborhood bodega. I've been burned by this place 5 or 6 times in a row. Every bottle that comes home with me is oxidized (taste like vinegar) or otherwise undrinkable. I don't know whether they have issues with their environmental controls or if they simply have a bad supplier. French, Italian, Spanish, Chilean, American, all way, way, way "off." Do yourself a favor and hike up to Brooklyn Heights and visit Michael Towne. Overpriced and so-so selection but at least drinkable.
