Christina designed and made my wedding dress for my upcoming June 2015 wedding. I showed her images of what I liked, she discussed what she wanted to emphasize on my body, we looked at fabric swatches...and she went to work! She designed a gorgeous dress that was BEYOND my expectations. I cannot wait to wear it. Her talent is amazing and her eye is perfect. She is reliable and prompt with all appointments.

My wedding dress was made here at the end of 1996/beginning of 1997, for my May 1997 nuptials. Back then, the shop was in the East Village, next to Stingy Lulu's (I think that was the name), where they had the most delicious strawberry shakes and mashed potatoes. The process was so easy...I simply described my style and she created a dress that flattered my body perfectly; it was that easy. The dress is still as beautiful as the day I wore it and I think none can compare in it's grace and quality. Thank you.

What a wonderful experience it was to have my dress made at Blue. I went in with a very open mind (ie. I had only vague ideas of what I wanted like color and length). I let Christina do her thing, and she created a gorgeous, unique, perfect-fit-for-my-body dress. She and her assistants spent hours with me bringing my dress to life! She is truly an artist and I respected that. Her creations are much more vast than what she has hanging on the rack, the possibilities are truly endless. I feel like the bad reviews on this site come from people who should not have gone to Blue in the first place. Don't go if you know exactly what you want. Don't go if you fit the "Bridezilla" title. Don't go if you're not easy-going, or open-minded. Go if you want a beautiful, one-of-a-kind dress and you're open to the work of an artist. Trust her and you will be happy!

I'm a wedding photographer and have been sending brides to Blue for longer than I am even willing to admit. This designer is talented. I remember when she was on Avenue A "back in the day." Her work is made with passion. She is fierce. She may be a little nuts, but few geniuses are in the "highly stable" category. Go at your own risk, but go with an open mind. I think she's delightful and brilliant. If you can't get on board with what she's all about, a department store may be a safer choice. See some of her dresses on my site: http://www.angelacappetta.com

I recently got my wedding dress from the talented ladies at Blue. We sort of randomly walked in and the second we were there I felt like Christina could really read my figure and visualize what I would look good and feel good in, and what would work with the tone of our wedding. You have to be prepared to be a bit flexible on time but my mom and I had a fabulous time hanging out at Blue and seeing the dress literally come together before our eyes! Though I was on a pretty tight budget and the dress was a bit of a splurge I feel like it was totally worth it, seeing them do all the hand stitching of the lace. I can't wait to wear it in June!

She is undependable and moody and thinks she is smarter than everyone else. The windows look good, but most of the styles are copies of a few seasons ago from real designers works. The work is sloppy with unfinished lining and she is rude. There are so many other great stores with better and more consistent service and much better quality.

Christina can make women look beautiful & sophisticated but is incredibly inconsistent. The 1st dress I purchased was gorgeous. 2 friends also had great experiences. Another friend had her wedding dress only days before the wedding after several tense tearful conversations. My 2nd experience was horrific. The dress looked like someone carelessly basted pieces together – it was lopsided, had mismatched seams, unfinished hems, sagging lining. Christina was incredibly rude, only after I refused to pay the remainder did she agree to ‘fix’ it. Got the dress with less than 24 hrs to go – wearable barely. If you go to Blue, you MUST be on top of details, provide false deadlines, & stand your ground. Don't pay in full until you get your final product & it's perfect.

Christina, the owner of Blue, is clearly a talented and very creative designer which is why I ordered a custom wedding dress from her. After my second fitting I was thrilled with the progress that was made on my dress. I went in for my third fitting, mind you this is 6 weeks before my wedding date, and the dress was completely changed! I was very upset and she became extremely abrasive and yelled at me for not understanding. I found communicating with her very difficult. It seemed as though she realized I was coming in for a fitting an hour before I got there and threw something together for me to try on. I ended up at the mercy of Klienfeld. Unless you are buying a design that is already created, I would not recommend working with her on a custom creation.

Christina has a great line of unusual and sophisticated dresses. She is also abrasive, doesn't listen, and I think a little lazy. I commissioned her in February to make my wedding dress for Oct. Seems like enough time, right? I went in for fittings in Feb. March. June and my dress STILL wasn't done when I came to pick it up on Labor day. She ultimately had to ship it. Just to be clear - I never changed my mind about what I wanted or anything like that. My weight stayed the same so that was not a problem. She just kept putting me off. I wish I could say when the dress arrived it was perfect. Nope. I had to pay $150 on alterations, some on changes Christina and I had specifically talked about and she had not done. Not only that, there were seams that were sloppy and loose threads all over the place. In short, it looked cheap and homemade. (cheap it certainly was not) If you are prepared to be really demanding and provide constant monitoring, maybe it's worth it if you like her designs. Otherwise, save yourself the headache.

I bought a dress that was on display at Blue. I had a fitting the next day, since I was only in New York for a few days. The dress was then shipped to me by fedex after a few days. The box was very poorly packaged, there were holes in the box through which I could see my dress! The dress was not placed in a garment bag or covered with paper, there were just a few scraps of fabric thrown over it which did not cover it. For such a beautiful and relatively expensive dress I would have expected much better care. Most bridal shops offer special packaging and care for such an important dress, but its not the case here, its as if the owner doesn't care about it anymore once you've paid for it. Luckily there was no damage to the dress. So unless you live in NY or could go there to pick up your dress, I wouldn't recommend buying a wedding dress from there.
