The owners have very specific taste so I generally know what I'll get at Butter. Simple, stylish and interesting, but not too trendy, clothes. My only complaint is that the owner, Eva, can be a bit intense i.e. it sometimes feels that she is pushing merchandise. Overall, I'm glad that they are in the neighborhood and I can always count on them for great shoes and basics.

just found 2 beautiful gifts for picky [and wonderful] people in my life. the store is stocked with dope, unusual and beautiful goods.

this store embodies the "less is more" aesthetic. I much prefer to buy elegant, non-trendy, simple and unusual pieces. Eva picks the best of the best, from well-prices American Vintage t's to other designer goods. this store is fabulous.

what a pleasant surprise to find a small store in Brooklyn with a stellar buy from Marni and Dries. the attentive personal service, good music, and chill environment make for extra incentive not to schlep into the city to shop. I highly recommend this store.

Rarely have I experienced the kind of personal service (in Manhattan, let alone in Brooklyn!) that I received during a recent trip to Butter. The salesgirl who helped me worked wonders finding options I never realized could look to flattering for my body type. I even splurged on an amazing Rick Owens leather jacket that fits like a glove. I have always been a huge fan of his clothes but wasn't sure they were right for my body until the folks at Butter helped me find the perfect thing that looks great and makes me feel like a million bucks. I get compliments every time I wear it and love telling people that this amazing jacket was "found" in Brooklyn!

Rick Owens, Dries van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Martin Margiela...this store is the leader in innovative fashion. The customer service is hard to compete with...which is why I now go there instead of to department stores for aforementioned labels. And they just started carrying items for the home, making it a great place to buy gifts as well as to indulge in some designer goodies for yourself.

I happened to drop by Atlantic Avenue and discovered this chic store Butter by Eva Gentry. With an excellent selection of no-fuss yet edgy designs, a well curated collection of books and videos, along with hard to find scents and candles for the home, Butter is a complete lifestyle store. However, unlike some other contrived design stores, the people at Butter are unpretentious and down to earth. Just strike up a conversation, because you never know what you will discover.

i've been living in park slope for many years and find the selection of quality shopping there to be a continuous let-down. several friends who live in boerum hill have been raving about their 'fav' boutique butter for the longest time, and i finally made the trek with them to check it out. i was an instant convert! i met the husband and wife team who run this well-curated store and fell as much in love with them as with their outstanding merchandise. they were so helpful in suggesting items that might work for me (i needed something to wear to a specific event) and even recommended an excellent tailor who helped me with some last-minute alterations. all in all this was the brooklyn shopping experience i've been dreaming of: great design with zero fluff, helpful/knowledgeable/passionate staff, and a truly inspiring atmosphere.

I first visited Butter by Eva Gentry after reading the Sartorialist's rave review about the store. Well worth the trip. more European than any other boutique that comes to mind in NY - this store is like a trip to Paris well-edited. Favorite designers such as Rick Owens + Ann Demeulemeester hang next to Clu and linen beach tunics [at a lower pricepoint]. I picked up a mischievously delicious chocolate skull [set in a little gift box] - the best birthday present i have seen in a long time. the jewelry selection was very impressive. great sunglasses as well. superb - all around.
