Baby stuff good. Maternity clothes bad

  • No, I would not go back!

I went here looking for unique maternity clothes. Turns out they do not sell maternity clothes. Instead, all the clothing is for non-pregnant women, yet just has a very loose cut, or has a high seam under the chest, so at first glance, it appears to be maternity. The salesperson confirmed it, too. Because of that, the clothes fit funny. Maternity clothes are cut a specific way - and have just the right amount of extra fabric where it's needed. These clothes are just for people who like looser clothing, so it's not cut maternity-style. Most don't have the stretchy top. Everything fits funny, and has kinks in the wrong places, esp near the tummy. The prices are steep - up to $250 for nicer pieces. I'd love to buy them after pregnancy, but they won't work now. The service was great - the salesperson let me know if an outfit would work for me or not, saving me time of trying it on. But in the end, nothing worked, because very few pieces were actual maternity wear. But the good part is, on the lower level, they have a lot of cribs and great baby furniture on display. They also had a discount on the stuff while I was there, so that was a good thing. I wound up buying our crib and baby room stuff here. Afterward, I went to Hudson Street a block away and took a cab up to Perry St., to Belly Dance Maternity. High-end stuff, (less costly, and better sales) and bought a lot of clothes there instead. Everything there is proper maternity wear, and stylish.
