A completely terrible buying experience that saddened us greatly, as we've always admired this store. We've checked with some friends, also local New Yorkers, and have learned that we're not alone. Apparently this store has a habit of selling damaged merchandise, then refusing to refund or even exchange the purchase. And get this: they'll add injury to insult by blaming you for the problem. Imagine! In a world of ever-growing options, this is one to leave off the list!

Unfortunately this store's customer service needs some help. It seems a case of bad attitude and good product. In-store, the salespeople are pretty friendly and helpful. However, none of my voicemails I left to follow-up on my order were answered. When I did reach a person, they told me that they had tried to call but my voicemail wasn't set up - not the case. She also said that I'd have to wait several hours for her to call me back, without asking when would be a convenient time to reach me. She redeemed herself by calling me back soon after with a clear answer to my question, though blaming her colleagues for the messed up order. Her attitude was still pretty unfriendly and unconcerned. How good can the product really be when you have people like that representing it? It made me wonder how serious their design philosophy really is. I felt like I had just shopped at a trendy and unnecessarily snobby clothing boutique. Ick.

I love The Conran Shop! I purchased a bed and sofa in 2009 and had excellent service - from the shopping experience, to my several questions answered by the knowledgeable sales woman, to the friendly delivery guys unpacking both pieces and then discarding the boxes. Everyone should check out the new Conran Shop in the lower level of ABC Carpet & Home.

Worse than described in other comments (did not want to believe it initially). Stay away. Ordered shelf and paid 50%. 10-12 weeks delivery time. 16 weeks later, no update from Conran. Called them: Shelf allegedly on ship, will be at your house in another month (20 weeks total). At 22 weeks, called them again: Can't find shelf. Not on ship, nor in storage nor anywhere! But I could order another one and it would only take 10-12 weeks...; Incompetent manager, complete absence of proactive customer follow up, disastrous order management and supply chain. Enough alternatives in New York. No need to set foot in store again.
