Poor Post-Purchase Customer Service; Makes Empty Promises to Close Sales
By flixbix on 2/23/2011
Doyle & Doyle has gorgeous jewelry, but their after-purchase customer service and unclear exchange/return policy leave something to be desired. --We will not be purchasing our wedding bands here or recommending Doyle & Doyle to our friends. Knowing how particular I am, my fiance expressly asked about their exchange & return policy, to which the salesperson said she'd extend the date out based on his proposal date. Thinking I had time to decide, I got the ring re-sized, thinking I'd eat the cost ($100) if I decided to swap. When the ring came back, I came clean to my fiance and expressed how I felt that the ring didn't reflect me, my style or how I felt about our relationship. Fraught with mixed emotions, we went to the store and asked if an exchange was possible. We were told we were a week late. Turns out, the other salesperson never extended the exchange date. I offered to pay for the "free" re-size. The salesperson said that the owner said that they could not, especially after the re-size (wish they would have said so much prior to the re-size). No apology for the exchange date mix-up, no acknowledgment of just how difficult and emotional it was for us to stand there trying to do this. Such a bad memory. Doyle & Doyle--since you ARE in the engagement ring business, at least have the decency to acknowledge that an engagement ring is a significant purchase and treat your customers like people who just put down a chunk of their life savings at your business!

My fiance and I went ring shopping together and picked out a stunning and special ring. Megan was very helpful throughout the entire process. I get so many compliments on my gorgeous ring. I can't wait to go back for wedding bands!
Great Store - A Love Story
By ErikaL on 10/6/2010
I got engaged in May 2009 with a ring from Doyle & Doyle. My fiancée proposed with a lovely platinum and diamond Art Deco ring in the Conservatory Garden in Central Park. We looked all over New York City for the perfect ring beforehand- the diamond district (a scary place, IMO), Tiffany & Co., De Beers- the list goes on. Although most were beautiful, none of them felt quite right. We walked into Doyle & Doyle and I just knew we were in the right place. The service was GREAT and they loved vintage and antiques as much as I did! They treated the jewelry with respect- it was more than just a business-it was about art, each piece a thing of beauty to be admired and adored. My ring was exactly what I wanted - I knew it the moment I tried it on- and even though I still conducted my search after I found it (I didn't want to be sold on the first ring I tried on there) I heard it whisper to my mind "come back to me." So he did. The great thing about vintage jewelry is that each piece is so unique. Each piece was worn by someone that treasured it and now it is looking for a new owner to be a part of its endless journey. As I stare down at my ring while I type, I realize that it could never have been another ring, just like my fiancée could not be anyone else. And I honestly do not believe we could have found it in any other store other than Doyle & Doyle. Some things are just kindred. There are lovely jewelers all over NYC, but Doyle & Doyle is one of a kind.

My fiance has style and taste. Needless to say she had expectations for her engagement ring. She wanted an antique aquamarine solitaire in a white metal setting (No princess cut plesase!). So this had me, an inexperienced jewelry buyer, pounding the New York pavement and the internet. After visits to the depressing Diamond District and 5th Ave I came across the Doyle & Doyle listing on NY Mag's site and called em up. I described what I was looking for and they said they would take a look in the vault. I held my breath till the next day and the super sweet, non-intimidating rep called back and asked for my email address! What I got were scans of a stunning piece and I did a dance of joy right there in my office!
Engagement Rings Galore..

Over the past several months, I have been shopping for an engagement ring. In my business I travel a lot so I've been to stores all across the country. Having spent countless hours trying to find just the right ring, I happened upon Doyle & Doyle. What a delight. The girls there were amazingly helpful and went well beyond what one normally receives in this sort of situation. They made sure I got the ring I wanted and kept it within the budget I specifed. These girls have an amazing selection of all kinds of jewelry in their store. Highly recommended.
I love this store!

I was looking for a store which had estate and vintage jewelry, when I found Doyle & Doyle. They have a fantastic selection and a wonderful atmosphere. The store is very friendly and informative. Whenever I've had a question I've always felt comfortable and the staff really takes the time to answer my questions. I go back to the store whenever I want to look at beautiful jewelry because the pieces are always changing. It's great to see really special jewelry displayed in such a welcoming atmosphere.

I was shopping for something for my mother's birthday when someone recommeded Doyle & Doyle for antique jewelry. They have an incredible selection and are very knowledgeable about their inventory. Both Doyle sisters took a lot of time to help me decide on the perfect gift for my mother. I will be returning later this month to pick out an engagement ring for my girlfriend. Highly recommended!!
The Extra Mile
By RReed on 8/14/2005
The Doyle sisters did an incredible job creating a mounting for our diamond. We had been searching for months and were getting really frustrated by the treatment we were getting at other stores. Most salespeople did not want to help us once they found out we only wanted to buy a mounting. I guess they thought that since it was a relatively small sale it was not worth their while. The Doyle sisters were patient and helpful from the get-go. They walked us through the process and made the perfect ring for us (and in our budget)! They will make sure you get a great ring no matter how much you have to spend.
Engagement Ring Shopping

I was in recently to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I had been looking all around and finally hit it right with the girls at Doyle & Doyle. Not only were they extremely informative about the particulars of the rings, but also very patient as it took 3 visits for me to choose the perfect ring. It was definitely worth the trip downtown.
Dream Engagement Ring!

I have been by the shop several times and have always been stunned by their un-rivaled antique engagement ring selection. The owners are always so sweet, helpful and knowlegeable. Thank you D & D for your unique finds and "bend over backwards" approach to customer service!!
