These past reviews are quite a few years old... and well, things have somewhat changed. And as usual and expected, a pretty big toy store. Two floors of fun, came here quite a bit for fun with family, for my afterprom with friends. In general, I really only come here for the Uglydolls they have in stock, which is a lot, and it changes each season (or cycle rotation, it depends). They even have FAO exclusives of them. As for being there, last I checked you could still go on the big piano there, just that there's a wait line. Again, something to be expected at a toy store as big and famous as this. Came here with family around Christmas time, which is also one of their most busiest seasons (they're technically busy all year round, but moreso obviously) and in the summer for a part of my afterprom with friends, to grab a pound of candy from their FAO Schweetz (within the store itself on the first floor) just because. Neat service, quite a huge selection of toys, and is on the list of places to go when I invite friends from LI to hang out with me in the city.

My daughter whose an 8 year old with a rare chromosone disorder loves "Annie", My husband and I were in New York this past spring with our daughter and decided to take her to this wonderland Toy store. Given that "Annie" was suppose to take place in New York City and with lots of references to some pretty iconinc buildings which we took our daughter to, we were hoping to be able to find an "Annie" doll or at least create one. Much to our disappointment and hers there was no "Annie" dolls anywhere but lots of other dolls from Dorothy to Shirley Temple but no Annie. However we did end up buying a stuffed Steiff Penguin much resembling "Happy Feet" so she was happy about that. We had a great time on the piano and just enjoyed the step back in time as we wondered through the Holly Hobbies and Raggedy Anne dolls. What a great store! Hope you get an Annie doll soon. We sure would love one! Leyanne Philp B.C Canada

I used to be a big fan of FAO, but after hyping it up to my four year old it was a huge let down. The piano was off limits, the displays ok, the customer service HORRIBLE and downright rude. Toys r us in time square had better displays, nicer employees, the ferris wheel, better selection.
