I ran into this shop about a week ago when I had an appointment in the neighborhood and had forgotten my bike lock. I selected a lock and went to the counter handing the lock and my debit card to a clerk. "We don't take credit cards, the internet is down." I was told. I ran out to a bank a couple of blocks away and came back with cash only to find that they were, in fact taking credit cards. "Oh yeah we take credit cards, he (the clerk) just didn't know he had to push the button." "You mean you sent me out to get cash when you were taking credit cards?" I said. The manager, Eric, came out from behind the counter and shouted at me "You think we did it on purpose?" "Did I say that?" I replied. "You think we did it on purpose?" he shouted again. "Did I say that?" I again replied. No apology, nothing. He continued to shout at me about my "nasty attitude" while another employee shouted "You are the kind of person who will get on the internet and complain." as a third employee followed me out of the store shouting "Get the f-ck out of here." repeatedly. Outside the store Eric confronted me again saying "If we did wrong, I am sorry." "If?" I guess shouting profanities as a customer is not clearly wrong to this man. "You did do wrong." I said. "And I don't want to shake your hand." Something is very odd here, I will never go in here or it's sister shop Toga on the UWS again. I think the branch in Jersey closed and I can see why.

my experience with one the staff here is almost always slightly to strongly dismal. ignore you, get really crabby lately, generally unpleasant. I wish there were some nice guys around here who would open a low key repair shop. These guys act like they're the kelly slater of bike...clerks. trying to find an alternative.
