Haystack in Brooklyn Heights

Walking into Haystack put me in a good mood immediately. The shop has a welcoming, comfortable vibe, sort of ABC Carpet-ish, but much more personal. Every shelf, surface or cabinet is full of well-chosen pieces, mostly new, with some vintage and antique pieces sprinkled in. While the collection of furniture and things for the home is great, I could hardly drag myself away from the jewelry area. A beautiful collection of gems from fun to fine (at good prices) held me captive. Everything at Haystack is special, witty, or just plain pretty, including the staff and owner Liz Cooke. And the pillows are amazing. Put it on your must-see list!

Worth the trip from Manhattan!

I'm never bored at Haystack; there's a large selection of everything for the home, from the classic to the ever-so-slightly unusual. It's just the right size - large enough to carry furniture, lighting and pictures, but not so large that you get overwhelmed. It's great for gift buying as well; I'd recommend stocking up - you can be prepared with an array of unique kids toys or housewarming gifts; just don't let it keep you from checking back often to see new merchandise.
