Matta commits one of the worst retail sins: they act like you're lucky they're taking your money. When I was in the store, there were three women shopping. The saleswoman ignored two of us and devoted all of her time to her fellow french-speaking friend. (no objection to the french part -- viva -- object to being ignored. I was there for a while -- maybe I'm slow on the uptake, but it was bad and offensive. In the end, so bad that I decided against a big purchase I had put aside. They don't deserve my money. The strange part is that this attitude is pervasive. I encountered it not just at the Lafayette store, but at the ABC Carpet and Home outpost as well. And what in the world are they so arrogant about? Matta is basically peddling sacks in pretty patterns -- and, and as the previous reviewer has pointed out, boosting up the price-point on Tibetan and Mexican wares that are normally not in the $250 range. (or that's what it seems like when you're treated as poorly as they treat you there_ I very very rarely write these reviews, so all I hope from writing this is that the management of Matta at least learn to treat their customers kindly and with considerably more respect. They should not take any patronage for granted.

Really cheap items from India at crazy prices. Bad quality you are going to notice when you clean or use more than two weeks what you buy there. The salespeople are unbelievably rude. They don“t refund your money if you have any problem with the stuff you buy. And the staff can lie you and do whatever is necessary before let you spend the store credit in the way you want. They have no shame.
