Rude and unhelpful

I was excited to check this store out, as it has a great selection of brands that I like. I was planning on spending up to $200 on a push toy for my ten month old daughter, and even more on various other things I might need. I asked the sales woman for help finding the push toys and she made me feel like I was really putting her out. She showed me one, but didnt stick around to help me decide whether it was right for my daughter or offer any alternatives. I ended up buying a toy for my daughter, and the man at the register was equally rude when I asked him about shipping products. In addition to this, another owner or employee had been on the phone loudly arguing with someone. Its disappointing to me, because I am new to the area and would much rather buy things from a local store than go to amazon. I moved from England, a place not known for super cheery customer service, so I dont have exceptionally high standards! What a disappointment...and I really wanted to get my daughter a push toy!

getting help is like pulling teeth

We live in the neighborhood and would really like to shop at the local businesses. However, every time we go into Mini Jakes, we are never offered help even when it's clear that we're struggling with a product or when we ask for help, they do so begrudgingly. We hear about friends' great experiences there and keep hoping for the same but are always disappointed. The entrance is not stroller friendly with a heavy door swinging outward and a step to get in. When I tried going alone with a one month old in the stroller, 3 staff were near the door doing various things (organizing/unpacking merchandise), not a single one offered to help open the door and 1 even gave me an attitude because I needed to get by the boxes he was unpacking with my stroller. Maybe it's a vicious cycle - they don't think we would buy something so they don't help and because of the poor customer service, we don't buy what we came to get.

Treasure of a modern childrens' store!

Being first time parents and shopping for the seemingly never ending list of things for our newborn can be overwhelming, but Mini Jake makes the process easier and even fun! Staff are very knowledgeable and offer courteous, personalized, honest, unbiased advice without being pushy. They distill the information into manageable, sensible chunks and leave it to you to decide. Not your typical chain store experience. We’ve been impressed with how they’ve done the homework and narrowed down the choices by picking only products with the highest standards. For those that like modern, innovative, functional kids furniture, gear and toys, Mini Jake has one of the best selections at reasonable prices (not cheap, but definitely fair relative to retailers for products of similar quality). Great place to shop for cool and functional gifts. Check them out – you can shop with confidence and will not be disappointed! We’ve pretty much ordered our entire nursery from them and so far they have been a joy to work with.
