A Horrific Experience!

I fell in love with my frames upon purchasing the glasses, but the nightmare that follows was enough to keep me away from this retailer forever. Either "the lab" or the store's optician mis-measured me for the frames. I walked around for a month, dizzy and shaking, barely able to go to work and function at a normal capacity. I saw three doctors, all of who said nothing was physically wrong with me. One even suggested placing me on anti-anxiety medication to stop the shaking. Finally, I went to my eye doctor and low and behold, the glasses were so poorly measured they would have had to of been on my forehead for me to see correctly out of them. The nightmare doesn't end there.... it took Morgenthal Fredrics an entire month to re-do my frames. The "lab" somehow managed to produce the lenses incorrectly two subsequent times before the glasses were ready to pick up. I asked for a discount for my pain and suffering and was refused. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. When paying $750 for luxury glasses, one would expect the customer service that goes with it. I've been wearing glasses my entire life and never had issues like this before. Their frames might be nice, but save yourself the pain and suffering and go somewhere else!

I bought two pairs of eyeglasses costing nearly two thousand dollars. My regular eyeglasses were encased in cheap plastic that simply cracked at the bridge, as I adjusted them on my face. I went to the store I had brought them at in the Time-Warner building and asked for a replacement. I was told that it would cost me $425.00 plus tax and that the warranty was only for one year. I was told that I could make it cheaper by having only the front replaced for $325.00. When I resignedly said, "okay", I was then told that they did not have that model anymore, but I could mix the colors...and for $325 without care or pride in their designer product, I could have my new motley frames. The salesperson who did his best with the rules imposed on him gave me a $50.00 break. I have received replacements for frames that cracked, discolored, etc. from Lauren, Ray-Ban, and other makers for a nominal fee, but Morgenthal Frederics doesn't stand by its product and should openly declare that it doesn't vouch for its durability nor should it engage in false advertising concerning its excellently made frames...$425.00 of cheap plastic for customers with disposable income...I unfortunately am just a literature professor at a university, in a society where being middle-class has become the equivalent of being poor and where the customer is rarely right anymore.

I bought a beautiful set of plastic M-F frames in San Francisco last summer. They cost a bomb; but their style and workmanship seemed to justify the expense. I now take them in for adjustment every few weeks (more often than I get a haircut), because they loosen up and go out of alignment even with kid glove care. Every optician comments on the poor quality of the plastic, which makes the frames look 10 years old (after < 1 year), and makes the frames too malleable. They are a mess.
- The best reviews give a clear sense of why you liked or disliked a restaurant, bar, or store. And that means details. Mention specifics dishes, type of crowd, pros and cons...
- If it's helpful to compare one place to another, go for it.
- Come up with clever, funny, pithy subject lines, and write in the first person.
- Don't forget to read the user rating guidelines and rules.
