Room has always been on list of furniture stores to explore and once I saw their new site on line, I made the effort and went to their Tribeca location to see "in person" a sofa that I was contemplating. All I can say. that it was definitely worth my time. I was amazed to find out that not only you can customize the sofa in terms of length, depth and height but also the amount of cushions, cushion fill and even seams!!! and the lead time- 6-8weeks. I looked no further and I decided to order the sofa right then and there ( I normally would of look other places, but I was sold on the customization and lead time).. I actually received it in 7 weeks and I love my new sofa!! I am planning to return because I am eyeing a bamboo dining that is also customizable.
There is hope!

I don't normally take the time to write these kinds of things, but was just treated so nicely - which can be unusal in this city - that I wanted to give a shout. I was beaten down by a miserable renovation experience, and had a couple of crummy experiences with other stores when I chanced by ROOM on a rainy Saturday. They were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, efficient and had a really cool selection of stuff. I bought several pieces and will go back, as soon as I can afford it. Great store.

A great experience. Friends of ours recommended ROOM when we bought a new apartment, and we were pleased every step of the way. The staff was knowledgeable, the lead times were good (8 weeks for a fully customized sectional!) and they also helped us with space planning. (And the furniture is beautiful.) I'll be going back when we design our next home.
A superior experience

My husband and I stopped in by chance and were so taken with the unique designs and personal attention that we ended up purchasing several items, some of which were very customized. Not only was the level of customer service excellent throughout the process (including very detailed production drawings of the pieces were purchasing, which really put our minds at ease!), but the items arrived on time and in perfect condition. I happily tell my friends where I bought these pieces, and could not recommend ROOM more highly!
I agree--stay away

when I saw the first review, i knew i had to add my experience with Room. It was horrible. they were amateurs, lost the order, delayed the order, wound up giving me a floor sample after delivering the wrong color couch while still making me pay for a new one. they did give me a discount for the wait, but overall, i would never ever ever ever go there again. Hope this helps.
Awful, incompetent service

Although Room has some unique, interesting pieces, our shopping experience with them was HORRENDOUS. The service was painfully slow and the staff (basically husband and wife team) was incompetent and difficult. Amateur service. Definitely not worth the trouble. Go somewhere else.
- The best reviews give a clear sense of why you liked or disliked a restaurant, bar, or store. And that means details. Mention specifics dishes, type of crowd, pros and cons...
- If it's helpful to compare one place to another, go for it.
- Come up with clever, funny, pithy subject lines, and write in the first person.
- Don't forget to read the user rating guidelines and rules.
