Custom Work Extremely Overpriced--Go to Gray and Davis

I recently had some stones set into an engagement ring at Roslyn. The ring is lovely enough and when I had it appraised by my gemologist said it was good work. Then he asked, "so this was what--$1750, 2000?" It was 5000 for the setting of my stones... I couldn't suffer to admit how much I paid. I later asked the gemologist for a recommendation and went to Gray and Davis Ltd, and bought a beautiful 1925 Tiffany band with about two carats of diamonds for 2700. I wish I'd asked for the recommendation before because this dealer also has antique settings. Regarding rudeness and pushy service. The staff was nice to me, but do pile on heaps of inflated talk about how beautiful you are and how your ring is fit for royalty (I mean a LOT of inflated talk). I have seen them be dismissive of customers. Given the price I paid, I won't go back--Roslyn will always seem mercenary to me.

beautiful, unique engagement ring

My fiance and I visited Roslyn on our search for an antique engagement ring. She had a lovely and varied selection of rings-- antique and modern (her own designs)-- and was very patient with us as we tried different ones. Her eye is also very good: the ring we ultimately fell in love with-- a 1930s antique-- was one that she suggested, but that we might not have considered on our own. Roslyn's friendliness and service was very good: she had the ring appraised and resized at no extra charge(we also did a second appraisal), mailed it to us and followed up with us to make sure it had arrived.

Amazing Experience

My experience at Roslyn was so special. I have been holding onto my diamond afraid of giving it to a stranger. At Roslyns after seeing an amazing ring I loved she created the ring of my dreams. She measured my diamond and when the ring was ready I had an appointment with the diamond setter who set it right in front of me so I never had to part with it. I love my ring so much, it was beautifully recreated and will be a future family heirloom I look forward to passing it onto my children. Besides engagement and wedding rings Roslyn is a great source for other gorgeous one of a kind fine jewelry pieces . I especially love the diamond and turqoise stack rings.

I love the diamond band in white I recently picked out with Roslyn. It is perfect! I think the diamonds looked amazing against the brushed platinum. The color really brings out the brilliance of the diamonds. She is a real artist and you wont find any place like her Boutique. I want to thank her for everything. Her warmth and generosity has meant so much to us and made this a very special story.

Gorgeous goods and highly erratic service. My engagement ring, wedding band and various gifts have come from Roslyn's. We love her and she irritates the hell out of us. Roslyn is that incredibly annoying aunt you still care for. I don't know how she keeps any staff at all!

If you love unique one-of-a kind jewelry you will absolutley adore this store. Roslyn helped me pick out the perfect necklace and it will be a piece that will be cherished by me and become a family heirloom. Roslyn always gives me the upmost personal attention and has great taste. I look forward to working with her in the future and highly reccomend this boutique... especially for their beautiful collection of bridal gifts.

great rings

I came in with my finacee the other day and found the staff very helpful in finding the perfect ring. After my purchase I had the ring appraised and found the prices to be accurate. I reccommend this store to anyone who is looking for beautiful engagement rings or wedding bands, their prices are very fair.

bought a vintage diamond ring here several months ago. received an appraisal with purchase for a little over the retail price I paid for the ring. after doing more research, I had the ring re-appraised by two independent (non-retail) gemologists and one other store gemologist -- all 3 appraisals came in at less than half of roslyn's appraisal. additionally, service at the store is horrendous. all older salespeople are incredible rude, and custom work is 2-3x more expensive -- even for simple arrangements -- than other reputable independent jewelers. do NOT shop here.

AVOID THIS PLACE

Roslyn is the most unprofessional salesperson I ever encounterd. I felt awful after I left the store. Roslyn is a nightmare-she wheels and deals and is pushy and rude. Her aggressive approach towards me was horrific-I couldn't even focus on the selection of merchandise because she was so busy unsuccessfully hard selling me. Roslyn needs to get it together-the whole feeling of the store is not positive and they should learn how to be more polite to customers. Being respectful to people goes a long way. I also found her desire to take my money to make a desposit on a item kind of desparate and it turned me off. I have three words of advice as a sosphisticated and seasoned New Yorker "AVOID AVOID AVOID"

Customer service from the Twilight Zone

My husband has treated me to several pieces from Roslyn. Recently, one of the earrings broke due to wear. When I took the piece to be repaired, I was told it would take one week to rewire it, and they would clean the piece for free. The earring was finally ready after a whole *month* of phone calls which were met with broken promises with a return call. Instead of rewiring the gemstone as Roslyn said, the piece was shoddily soddered, and it was not cleaned. The sales assistant Ursula refused to take responsibility, blaming the jeweler, and saying they could 'call the jeweler to see about it,' not seeing the irony of doing further business with someone who had done shoddy and late work. Despite steam cleaning the piece while I waited, it was still filthy. Ursula's defense? "I didn't even look at it after the jeweler dropped it off." ??? Not a word of apology. Buyer, be extremely beware.
