bought a vintage diamond ring here several months ago. received an appraisal with purchase for a little over the retail price I paid for the ring. after doing more research, I had the ring re-appraised by two independent (non-retail) gemologists and one other store gemologist -- all 3 appraisals came in at less than half of roslyn's appraisal. additionally, service at the store is horrendous. all older salespeople are incredible rude, and custom work is 2-3x more expensive -- even for simple arrangements -- than other reputable independent jewelers. do NOT shop here.

My husband has treated me to several pieces from Roslyn. Recently, one of the earrings broke due to wear. When I took the piece to be repaired, I was told it would take one week to rewire it, and they would clean the piece for free. The earring was finally ready after a whole *month* of phone calls which were met with broken promises with a return call. Instead of rewiring the gemstone as Roslyn said, the piece was shoddily soddered, and it was not cleaned. The sales assistant Ursula refused to take responsibility, blaming the jeweler, and saying they could 'call the jeweler to see about it,' not seeing the irony of doing further business with someone who had done shoddy and late work. Despite steam cleaning the piece while I waited, it was still filthy. Ursula's defense? "I didn't even look at it after the jeweler dropped it off." ??? Not a word of apology. Buyer, be extremely beware.

Roslyn is the most unprofessional salesperson I ever encounterd. I felt awful after I left the store. Roslyn is a nightmare-she wheels and deals and is pushy and rude. Her aggressive approach towards me was horrific-I couldn't even focus on the selection of merchandise because she was so busy unsuccessfully hard selling me. Roslyn needs to get it together-the whole feeling of the store is not positive and they should learn how to be more polite to customers. Being respectful to people goes a long way. I also found her desire to take my money to make a desposit on a item kind of desparate and it turned me off. I have three words of advice as a sosphisticated and seasoned New Yorker "AVOID AVOID AVOID"

I purchased a ring for the love of my life on Valentine's day 2012. and what not, e few days later a painful breakup. Off course I tried to return the ring and was told that there is no refund of any kind, store credit only, valid for a year, take it or leave it. I stopped by in the following year to try to find something I like in the store, but nothing is in there but OVERPRICED junk. SO I decided to just get the ring back since it hasn't been sold, still in the display. And keep it as a memory of my ex. So you see the ring has more of a sentimental value. I went there a week after my store credit expired and asked if anyway they could help me out. the answer was from the owner a short sentence "Nothing I can do". great way to help your costumer Lady. Not even a try... a late fee... a Sorry..... I call it a day light robbery, a RIPOFF. 5 minutes later she calls my cell phone saying she feels bad and offers me some discount on my next purchase, and lied about the ring I just saw five minutes ago being sold... Really Lady??? there is nothing in your store valuable, including your overpriced junk and your costumer service skills. No way I'm ever going back to that store. I can only agree with the other reviews on Yelp. an awful place with rude service and nothing to buy. DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS STORE! There are way better places to spend your money on the UWS.

i will be so bold as to say, and i had an insiders view, do not shop here. she is rude and pushy and has no set standard for selling. if you agree to her prices she will take you. i watched it over and over. i am a GIA certified gemologist and i expected much much more then the disorganized disrespectful running of this store. i love this business enough to take time and i don't trust it and please seek another location if you can for estate pieces.

Last time I checked there were 2 negative reviews here. Is NY mag getting paid to take them off?! Anyway, this place is terrible. Their jewelry is beautiful - honestly. But they are the rudest, b*tchiest people around town. The owner is a witch. I love their antique engagement rings but I would never trust them with such a big purchase. They have changed prices upwards on me in front of my eyes to try to pressure me / my mom to buy things - immediately. Go see. They'll treat you like crap!

I've walked by the store a couple of times with my boyfriend and decided to check out the merchandise they had. I admit they do have a great selection of jewelry. What turned me off was the salespeople that worked there and Rosyn herself was extremely pushy and rude. Maybe that is her personality or her aggresive sales pitch but completely turned me off. I was extremely interested in some of her items but an interaction with her was not so pleasant and walked right out!

I feel SO much better after reading these reviews... I love Roslyn's jewelry, too, but I always feel so awful after I've been in the store. Roslyn is rude to customers and rude to her salespeople. She looks down at customers and has literally turned her back on me when I've asked about a piece in the window. I get way better service at Van Cleef (and elsewhere)... And while I CAN afford to buy Roslyn jewelry, I'm unlikely to be buying much at Van Cleef!

As stated by other reviewers, the selection is great. However, a necklace of mine broke after 1 year of wear. I went into the store to ask for some help/advice and was treated with a complete lack of respect. I was told that the designer who made the necklace never fixes anything and that the store could do nothing to help me. Moreover, one of the older saleswomen made a snide comment to another...something about me bumping the necklace into a wall and breaking it! There was another comment about me not wanting to "spend a lot of money" on fixing the necklace. I was so totally turned off by the experience. Despite the nice selection, I don't think I could go back!

I have a love-hate relationship with this store. I love their jewelry. But I cringe at the idea of giving money to the extremely rude owner and her little helpers. Go see what I mean. It's a shame! Their stuff is lovely.
