RUDEST customer service ever. I ordered a bagel and was looking at chocolates on the other side thinking what to order from there. They have separate stations. It was 95 degrees outside! I asked the guy behind the chocolates for a cup of water while i was waiting. He refused me, even though they give you a cup of water when you ask. I asked again. He refused again in the most RUDEST manner. Honestly when you are paying 10 bucks a bagel, you would expect people to a least be nice to you and not scream at you. The bagels are good, but really not worth such disrespect, bc the guy literally looked at me like i was nothing and he was so cool, all because russ and daughters is really popular on the lower east side. NOT COMING BACK definitely! Obviously I didnt buy chocolates after that!

While visiting NJ from Maryland over the weekend, we took a detour and drove into Manhattan in order to purchase a few items from Russ & Daughters as it was about to close. My wife ran in quickly from our car, followed by my cousin and her husband. Upon entering, she was offered to be served. At that moment, another employee appeared and requested that my wife, my cousin and her husband leave the store immediately since it was past closing hours. When he was not pleased with their pace, he demanded that they move faster.

This place has the best dried fruit I've ever had. There is a huge selection and the fruits are not the dry, hard things you buy in a bag at the grocery store. My favorite are the peaches. I've never even had the smoked salmon, but I go almost weekly for the fruit. They also make fantastic gift baskets.
