good selection, suspect service

S-L offers one-stop-shopping for the important French & Italian wines, particularly Bordeaux. I use their web site frequently as a reference, but I am not keen on shopping in the store as I get the distinct impression that the clerks think I am about to shoplift. I'm a 20-something woman, a frequent and knowledgeable wine buyer, though I don't look like I buy first growths by the case; if S-L views my business as expendable I am inclined to agree. I'll buy there when they have a bottle I can't find elsewhere, but since there are plenty of other great wine stores in the city I do not expect to be back.

Customer service -- whether I need an order status or have a specific wine question -- has always been courteous and knowledgeable. 99% of the time, I get my order the same day! One of NYC's best kept secrets. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or looking to restock your bar at home, you must try Sherry-Lehmann!
