Holidays, Birthday cakes, Breakfast -its the best. The Fudge cake and Banana Bread are always huge winners at my parties. They are one of the few places in NY that make a croissant that rivals the croissants I have had in Paris. Making your own ginger bread house or buying one of their beautifully decorated ones makes the christmas holiday special. The Gingerbread sleigh is cool and original too. I even got my wedding cake here. It was the only part of wedding planning my husband enjoyed. Not only was it beautiful but the cake also tasted great.

I have been going to Soutine Bakery for years. The quality is top-notch. Their cakes, pies, cookies, croissants - all are absolutely yummy! And best of all, I've used their catering services - never been disappointed. It's not cheap but you truly get what you pay for. This is not a chain - Soutine is one-of-a-kind and their baked goods and catered food clearly exemplifies that. (And Madge is the best!) I actually don't believe the negative review below - I know how much they care about their products and this just seems too out of character...

Soutine makes me feel like a real New Yorker. After a relaxing brunch with friends on the UWS I stop by Soutine for their mini tarts, seasonal cookies or a slice, heck, a loaf of their famous banana bread. I see the same friendly faces behind the counter. They actually remember me, which is something in this ever changing city! I run into neighbors and find out who is buying birthday cakes and whose daughter's wedding is coming up. It's a little home away from home; a place with roots. It's also worth mentioning that Soutine gives back to the community. I have seen their goods at local bake sales and cake/party packages on silent auction lists. A little shop with a big heart!

What a refreshing experience. I waked out of Magnolia Bakery (around the corner) in disgust only to turn the corner in despair and find this jem of a local bakery. I bought a beautiful chocolate birthday cake- light & delicuous- not that overpowering butter frosting that is avail everywhere else. It felt like walking into a good neighbors home. Friendly staff, free writting on the cake, genuine warmth & a longing to try everything. Had the wonderful blueberry crumb cake and a fab chocolate chip loaf. Will never bother with the more famous neighbor again (& they have cupcakes to boot!)

We recently got a cake from the Soutine Bakery for a party and it was a big disappointment. First, they had our order more than a day in advance but forgot to make the cake. When we went to pick it up, they had to paste together a cake from whatever they had on hand. I have to say that it was easily one of the ugliest cakes I have ever seen. They used a light brown chocolate frosting with bright yellow flowers, neon green leaves, and pale pink for the message. The cake itself was dry and had very little flavor, even though we left it out of the refrigerator for more than an hour. Don't believe the positive reviews you might read about this place, I would suggest that you steer clear of it. This bakery might have been good years ago, but not anymore.
