Tannen's Magic - Be Cautious of Their Customer Service

I have had mixed experiences at Tannen's. For the serious and professional magician, Tannens seems to have the best selection in New York City. However, I recently had a bad experience when I bought an effect that they sell called "Card Leap." Not only is "Card Leap" a rip-off of an old effect, it comes with unintelligible instructions (filled with typos and vague directions), and the purchase was recommended by one of the store's own salespeople! I have also taken things out of my "bin," only to find that the person ringing me up replaced it and charged me for it after I had already taken it out. Another time, after I bought an effect called the "Animal Trap," I went home and could not understand the instructions. When I went back to the store to ask for help, NOBODY in the store knew how to do the effect. Once again, I received an overpriced prop, with horrendous instructions, that was topped off by atrocious customer service. While I have loved going to the store, and would recommend that you go too, I would be cautious and ask them to teach you the trick BEFORE leaving.
