Diverse Selection, full of surprises, helpful staff
By brian.chambers on 6/27/2016
I no longer live in Brooklyn, and one of the things I miss the most is this wine store. The selection of bottles here is very thoughtfully selected. Plenty of well made European wines and a mix of other quirky stuff from around the world, all of which are reasonably priced and delicious. Really enjoyed picking up the vintage Olga Raffaut Chinon from Uva--what a find! I've also done very well selecting random bottles from regions that are less familiar to me and have come to trust they will always be good. And the people working in the store have always been enthusiastic and helpful. It's about as ideal a wine store as you could hope for.
arrogant staff paid with a less than egalitarian wage most likely

I read the profile page about this place being egalitarian but that's hogwash. There was this arrogant blonde staff with her nose held high (literally) as she poured wine in a glass for one customer and rung up my purchase. There was just this silence during the whole transaction and to break the silence after she handed me my receipt, I said thank you. She just had this bored blank face and said "your welcome" in this perfunctory way. I guess I was thanking her for my business or something. Arrogance doesn't give you class - especially when you are working in the service sector (the lowest paid of all sectors).
