The music is still ringing in my ears. What a refreshing musical! The set is chic and spare, the actors are gorgeous and incredibly talented. The fact that they all play musical instruments doesn't encumber the show, but adds to the narrative. It doesn't feel contrived when they break into a song. The dialogue is incredibly witty, costumes are stylish, the singing, especially the whole chorus is very accomplished. The feeling is very "New York". And what a cute lead!
Finian’s Rainbow
This marvelous, slightly unhinged revival succeeds because it refuses to wink at the material or treat it as quaint.
The Understudy
Theresa Rebeck’s warm backstage comedy features a thoroughly excellent trio, but the heart of the show is Julie White’s performance.
