I've seen a few musicals but Hair is the only one that felt like an experience. I've never seen a show that used its cast (known as the Tribe) to their fullest potential. All of the Tribe members are excellent, each number is fantastic and the songs sound better then ever. I found myself laughing and singing one minute then reflective and somber the next. The show successfully uses its themes to develop its characters and story. The best part is the sense of community that the Tribe forms throughout the show. It never felt like a gimmick but just a natural element of the show. I encourage anyone who reads this to order their tickets as soon as possible. Furthermore, I encourage you to take part in the show and the finale. You may end up with a different opinion then mine but you won't regret being a part of the Hair experience.
Finian’s Rainbow
This marvelous, slightly unhinged revival succeeds because it refuses to wink at the material or treat it as quaint.
The Understudy
Theresa Rebeck’s warm backstage comedy features a thoroughly excellent trio, but the heart of the show is Julie White’s performance.
