Leah Saltzman & David Zwirn

Groom’s Family Farm in Millbrook, New York
September 28, 2013

Leah Saltzman, 26, and David Zwirn, 32, met at a taco night hosted by a mutual friend in 2010. “My friend had invited me over to meet her new boyfriend. It was pouring rain but I went anyway,” recalls Leah, who works at Ralph Lauren. “I’m glad I did, because David was there.” Three years later, David, a managing director at Guggenheim Partners, proposed in a candlelit tree house on his parents’ Catskills farm. Their September nuptials at the same spot (40 acres of land that once belonged to composer Marvin Hamlisch) brimmed with personal details: Leah incorporated the buttons from her mother’s wedding dress into her custom-made gown and used her grandma’s tablecloth as the chuppah, and a live painter captured their first dance. The backyard reception featured hoedown touches, like mismatched china from garage sales and blanket-covered hay bales for seating. David’s fraternity brothers helped keep the homey vibe going after the reception: One D.J.-ed while another passed out granola.
